My mates got a Fizzy in his garage that we used to use at the Moped Mayhem at Peterborough. Consequently there’s not a bit of it that hasn’t got some damage to it. I think it’s just sitting there. He’d probably get a decent price for it too as it’s mostly still all there.
I always fancied a go at that :)

It was fun but we never got anywhere with the Fizzy. The gear lever was the Achilles heel with it constantly having to be tightened as the splines weren’t up to much. Dirty great big motocross boots didn’t help when trying to find a gear…any gear will do :D

We did it a couple of years but had a bit more success (3rd in class one year) when we moved to an old Honda step through. Much easier to concentrate on the carnage around you without gears to bother about.

As with that kind of racing you had the fun guys (us) and the few who took it seriously including running on methanol and getting close to 20hp. My mate used to win the 4 stroke class nearly every year with his ss 50 that was quite well modified.

It’s been many years since we’ve been down there although I believe they’ve reintroduced the mopeds.

Moped racing can be great fun, at least I enjoyed it more when it wasn't taken *too* seriously...

Guess the track?

I've just got back from a run around the Yorkshire Dales. There were times that I thought a Speed Triple was not exactly the ideal choice for the route I took

My visor looks very much like Skub's

That's my sort of wild, bleak scenery. I often stop in places like that and just enjoy the silence. 8-)

Out and about for a few hours today enjoying the lanes of Warwickshire.
I didn’t venture more than abut 20 miles from home exploring the area and enjoying the way this time of year the countryside is bursting with greenery.

Couldn't not go out today. The weather was just too good. Feels like Spring now. Did 120 miles around Essex and Suffolk wearing leathers instead of textiles :D

That's Doncaster with little brother on the home tuned AR50 going round the outside of what looks like an MZ. I think we were 5th. We managed a fourth overall at the very first Bike organised event at the Birmingham Wheels where a Kawasaki 'staff' entry turned up with a rocketship of an AR50... I had a look at it and it was engine number 0000003 IIRC... presumably a full-power pre-production prototype! We were level on top speed, but the Kawasaki entry roasted us coming out of bends. We were running in 3rd but cooked the clutch on the tight bends and lost a place in the last 30 mins or so.

And that was flat out on the Phase One Superbike Moped Endurance Race to Le Mans. We finished 2nd on that one, despite losing the front sprocket just before the ferry at Portsmouth the previous evening. My idiot mate Andy (riding the bike) reused a circlip holding the sprocket too many times despite me telling him to fit a new one. We were lucky to get one from a Kawasaki dealer next morning and set off a couple of hours after everyone else. A combination of quick bike and good route planning (avoiding towns AND bars) meant we caught up all bar the Woods of Abergele entry.

The prize idiots, I mean, ceremony.

The northern tip of the Rosguill peninsula in Donegal. Gorgeous. Over here for the NW200.

After 3 years of trying to talk my old mates into doing a short tour we finally did 5 days based out of Crieff starting last Saturday.
Here we are having a break at Braemar.I've known my mate taking the photo since 1978 & two of the others since 1980.We met through motorcycles & it was good to finally do this long overdue trip
Image

Here's the Street Triple in touring mode,a rare sight up there as just about EVERY other bike was a bloody BMW GS,never seen so many of the things,I'm surprised no one's attempted to ride away on the wrong BMW  ..
Image

Here's the Streety at Kinlochrannoch

Image

Typical busy Scottish road :D

Image

Miles for the trip

After taking 3 years to get them organised & doing the trip they now want to do another one this summer

Little Sunday run to Doms biker's cafe, Leominster, fully laden with old men, but a nice selection of bikes parked up. They also do a lovely Hereford burger aswel. 🍔

Did I enjoy it ? Not that much, roads full of car's, camara vans out in force and freshly laid gravel on the back roads. 👎

The day trip is becoming something I can easily do without. An overnighter for a trackday or mini trip on the other hand i still really enjoy. So that's what I think I'll be doing in July. Maybe Northumberland or Dumfries and Galloway or both.

Anyway pics, and all these bikes looked bloody good in the flesh, especially the big XR, the MV is a bit too flash, the Bonnie looked really nice, the cbx still looks massive, the cb1000r looked a lot better than pic's I've seen, tail tidy sorts it out, but the Enfield did look bloody awful. O

I hear ya man.

I rarely if ever ride any time after late morning. Normally I'm away around 7am and fill my boots for anything up to 4 hours, then I'm home by the time everyone else is out. I think if the roads were permanently like they are on a weekend afternoon,I'd pack the bikes in. Maybe buy an old classic just to polish!

Fortunately here,it's still possible to avoid the great unwashed and find quiet roads to play on,but it's all a clock ticking.

This has always been my prefered option for the last 40 years. I used to work nights and I'd get home around 4 or 5 am and take the bike out for a few hours and be back in time to have breakfast.
