People still go to banks ? I used a bank about the last time i used a cheque, sometimes before 2000.
Yup. Not weekly but I've dropped into Nationwide and asked a technical question about ISAs - which was answered at the till. Got bags of £1 coins, traded in defunct notes, paid in envelopes stuffed with a few £'000 cash (

) a couple of times.
When I was Treasurer (and Membership Secretary) of something, visits to HSBC were routine (cheques, cash from membership and box office) - they were the first to close the branch on my local High St. Fortunately I'd quit by then.

The banks here are very open and friendly.
No folk behind screens.
Everytime I go, there's 4 or 5 folk sat to chat to and sort stuff out.
All speak perfect English.
Perhaps need help 3 or 4 times a year.

Not since I stopped dealing with HMRC and their obsession with overcharging electronically and refunding through cheques that are too big for the banking app.

The news articles always makes me laugh when it comes to banks and old people.
Marge used to have a branch in her high street but it closed because she was the only one who used it, twice a year. She says she's now left with no banking as she doesn't trust the apps, doesn't like talking to the forriners when she rings the free number to the call centre ("can't understand a bloody word they say!") and can't be arsed walking to the post office to send the cheque in a pre-paid envelope.

I was clearing out my Chase account last year and every transaction was getting flagged as fraudulent, so a call to call center every day for a fortnight. If I called before 6pm I'd get the Scottish call center, after that the Philippines. I always called in the evening to get an accent I could understand.
My hearing had been shot to pieces for years and I do struggle with some accents.

I booked my bike in for a tyre two weeks ago and was told that I'd have to drop it off and pick it up (not wait).
I got an uber back as it's two miles away and I'm not walking in this heat. The astute uber driver picked up on the fact I was a biker due to my attire and when I said I had a car he asked me why I needed an uber. "Because I can't drive both at the same time".
I was only home for half an hour when I got a call to say my bike was ready so I could have waited after all.

People who walk around an office environment with their headphones permanently glued to their ears.
Bit rude, if you ask me.

better than the ones who walk on cycle paths with 3 dogs while having the headphones on... they deserve their own place in hell.

Is there room for the horsey types who constantly ride in groups through the woods near me, despite there being multiple signs advising them that it is forbidden, who then have the temerity to moan when dogs go a bit bat-shit at the sight of them?
Only the riders need be cast into the burning pits, not the nags.

Speaking of horsey-arseholes, i get a lot round here of the horsey types, something to do with living on the downs and 3000 stables... 99% of them are polite and nice, but yesterday i got about 50m from horsey and said arsehole and i pulls over, takes a drink and chills... Horsey just walks on past me and .... Nothing... nada... not even a glance.

After 30 years with my bank I've just switched to Nationwide as they have a branch near both home and work. I doubt I'll need them, but if I do it means i can go in an talk to someone and avoid ridiculous answering systems with 2000 options to go through before I get to speak to someone who repeatedly says, "Thank you for allowing me to help you today".

Just STFU and answer a straightforward question! Frankly, any company without an international call centre can be assured of my business, even if it does cost more!

Seen that a few times now.
I want to know what film they are watching that they need 16 stellas to make it through.

I doubt they'll remember.
