Storm Isha has shifted a few roof tiles on the South Aisle of my 13th C church roof. We are on The Hill, highest point in the local area, so while flooding may not be an issues, roof leaks are! Got to get the roofer out asap to get this sorted and insurance claim sorted. All in the life of a vicar. Another area of the roof on the North Aisle is also going to get repairs.

I woke up early so thought I'd take a nose in the garden.
Other than the garden furniture having gone for a walk, the summer pool cover and roller had decided to jump on to the winter cover - not an easy one to retrieve!

My card is behind the bar. The sale of my Mum's house completed today and the funds are on their way. I'm debt free.

Had a rummage in the 'cupboard of ancient technologies and historic connector cables and chargers'. So far;

Several mobile phones, including a couple of 'flip' phones
A pair of walkie-talkies (decent range)
A Sony portable DVD player
An i-River (iPod wannabe competitor)
A small Olympus dictation device
A video camera (modernish)
A Psion5 and a Psion Revo
A Plume portable environment monitor
A Lenovo tablet (might be another one in there somewhere
A treasure trove of old currency but some US$ and € notes in there too
A read/write CD unit
Many small memory cards, cables, power supplies etc etc

Will keep the Psion5 for posterity, neat bit of kit but I think the rest will be disposed of although the walkie-talkies might be useful come the apocalypse. There's a few more boxes of stuff like modems, keyboards etc etc in the loft over the garage.

Depending on what model of Psion5, you might be pleasantly surprised how much it's worth.

0100 this morning, had to remove a 15ft trampoline complete with safety net from lane 1 & 2 of the M1! Strange thing is there’s no houses around there so I can only guess it’s had a wonderful adventure across the fields.
Even the LGV drivers that we held up thought it was funny watching 2, not that young, filthy, wet and pissed off Traffic Officers dragging the thing into lane 1 where we took it apart to dump it over the barrier.

It's a 5mx Series 16Mb. Have to see if I can find the 6v charger but the stylus is still in the slot.

PS About £200 to buy from a Psion specialist but some v silly prices on eBay.

As I am dossing down at the daughters place for a bit, I have become nominated handyman!
After the wind yesterday there have been a plethora of broken gates and latches to fix today. The lunge ring took a hammering as the wind has nowhere to go in there. Thankfully all horses pretty much unperturbed by the whole event!

I like storms. Two fences to fix, shed roof to re felt and three tree branches to chop up. Might not be such a quiet week after all.

Scum of the earth fly tippers should be suspended by their big toes and the soles of their feet hit with rubber truncheons.

The UK is falling apart! The Met police are all set offenders, the RNLI are actively engaged in people trafficking . . .

Moved out of M25 into the darkness wilderness of Northfleet Kent. Up the hill (quite literally The Hill) from the Ebbsfleet International Station (I can see it from the church pathway).

My sister has asked me to do a speech at her upcoming wedding, so instead of the traditional 'Father of the Bride Speech' there'll be a 'Younger Brother of the Bride Speech'.

Having spent a few days reading up on the prescribed content, the people to thank, etc. and having watched a few YouTube videos for inspiration, I've spent a few hours this morning putting pen to paper.

So far I have:

'Ladies and Gentlemen...'

Writer's block. :(

I've got a best man's speech to write for the middle of Feb, I'll probably start it the day before the ceremony. Or I might just get pissed and ramble on about any old shite, like I did last time I was a best man.
