I've talked to lots of drivers about tailgating and it seems everybody hates it. The strange thing is that none of them ever do it themselves.
You have obviously only talked to English drivers. The French do it unrepentantly, and in Italy it is compulsory.
I think one of my neighbours might be Italian or French then: he could be by the looks of him but we've never spoken (middle aged guy with black, greased back hair). He tailgated me yesterday on the last two roads home which have 20mph speed limits, I was doing just under 30mph. And they still need 7 working days to get their computer to send the data to the computer in the pharmacy next door! WTF?
I was the same with the first one yesterday. I rarely get that wound up but they rarely get quite that close. FFS it was a windy road through a village no not exactly ideal overtaking roads (although, the french and overtaking on/through/before bends is a whole other BYS conversation!!). If it's the practise is that big, then its more likely to be one of the receptionists off sick, and their workpile was sitting on their desk - your prescription to be checked by a GP included. But then - that's what happens in all large offices. The more people involved, the less important the responsibility becomes.
