Just seen on Facebook that she's in hospital with an exploded knee. Crashed skiing. Gonna be out of action for a while.
Fucking FUF :(

:(
Ain't got FB. Give us the summary.

Edit: I suppose that 'Crashed skiing' is the summary. As you were.

GWS, our very own crash test dummy.

I exploded a shoulder, but it was all ligament/tendon/muscle damage, no fractures (altho the fix involved taking a chunk off the end of the collar bone for some reason). Looks like she's proper buggered it if plates/pins are involved.
Might be time to rethink career choices. I imagine the employer won't be exactly chuffed.

The exploded was a French doctor in resort description. It’s mostly the tibia plateau (again) and a bit of the fibula

Will do a post with pics to avoid littering them in here!!

But definitely unhappy that I did it at 12:25 Thursday and so have barely eaten or drunk anything since then as waiting on surgery Thurs afternoon and yesterday till about 15:00!

Supposedly heading down in a bit but still haven’t seen the surgeon to find out his plan - a replacement knee is a WAY quicker recovery time than the suggested pins and plate ☹️☹️☹️

Shite news, but get well soon, Noggin.

And try and stay clear of the tibia plateau from now on. Stick to the easy slopes.

The vanity of acceptance speeches, not least at the Oscars.

From Best Cinematography winner Autumn Durald Arkapaw:

"A lot of little girls that look like me will sleep really well tonight because they want to become cinematographers," she said.

"And I know that just being on stage, getting this award or movie, that will change so many girls' lives because they'll be inspired when they weren't before."

Nothing like being full of your own self-importance.

It was an easy (ish) slope!!

I suspect that tibia plateau will be metal within a few years!!!

But she's not wrong. Most little girls don't think they can/should do certain jobs because people tell them they are "male" jobs and/or they rarely or never see a woman doing that job.

So - she's right :)

Bloke at work retired in Dec.... Nice fella, we worked together a fair bit over the last 25 years.

Dropped dead... Sheesh, just a couple of months after retiring. Harsh world at times.

who told girls they can't be cinematographers then ? I find it baffling at times at all this 'exclusion' stuff... Maybe many girls just don't have an interest in it.

Ok, maybe it isn't as bad now (but I've heard people tell both my niece and my nephew they can't do certain jobs because they are the wrong sex) but I was told I couldn't do various jobs because they were male jobs. Police, fire service to name two. When I enquired about joining the navy women were shore based and did office work - yes, I know this has changed!!

But, it's difficult to comprehend if you haven't experienced it. You won't have, your boy won't have. But there are various articles i see (because, yes, I look for them), of women saying they didn't know they could do that job because it was a male job until they saw a female in the role on tv or in a newspaper etc. Schools and colleges etc aren't always as inclusive as we like to think - based on info from younger females than me, so not exactly out of date!

You have no idea how demoralising it was to be told I couldn't be a table dancer at Spearmint Rhino.

Kathryn Bigelow (b. 1951) did OK. (Being married to James Cameron didn't hurt, maybe, in getting the opportunity to showcase her obvious talent).

It is nice to see Hollywood has moved on a bit from the supposed 'Golden Age' though.

Being a cinematographer didn't work out too well for Halyna Hutchins.

Shit websites. Why can't they do what I want ?
:angry-cussingblack: :angry-cussingblack:

Been trying to book a ferry tmrw to Fuerteventura. Fred Olsen official site shit out :(

So tried 3 other booking sites. All went through payment then rejected and refunded.

Bollox.

Then got an email from Fred Olsen confirming my booking ???

Apparently I'd booked it 2 weeks ago and forget.

Lucky for me the software looks out for Muppets like me :obscene-birdiedoublered:

Japanese tourists!

Just back from our hols and was amazed how rude and disrespectful the japanese tourists were, I always thought them to be a polite and respectful nation?

Treated the poor locals like dirt, would not engage with them or even say / motion a thank you.
Eating in a-la-carte restaurants and they seem to believe it's acceptable to be watching stuff on their phones at high volume despite other folk trying to have a nice dinner, and this was adults - not kids!
