Re: What have you done today thread?
Did some walking. Chatted with a brit friend that I rarely see. Second time in two days
Came home to make christmas puddings!! One reasonable size as it seems I might have a visitor/visitors over christmas A couple of smaller ones as gifts
Finished off the Viennese Whirls
Went out to walk around again and see my fav winter friend at his new place - they are still working on it, so I got to see a bit of the progress
Came home and did some admin and lots of cross stitch!! LOL
Oh, also, got a message from a mate that needed help. There's a secure way of connecting to certain French administration websites. Only it seems that for some of these sites, the system has been changed to a 'so called' secure phone app. Downside for my mate is they don't have good enough internet for the phone at home, nor do either of them have an up to date smart phone that will download the app. The only way she could get access was for me to download the app, enter her details and the code they'd text to her and agree that I was her so then she could go into the website - well, after the app pinged me to get me to confirm the access was ok!!!
Apparently the reviews are that this is very much NOT a secure app!!! She was exceptionally unimpressed!! All to get at some funding that she has to do some french lessons!! LOL
Also, I got my sleep completely out of sync after the mammoth trip home but think I've sorted it (roughly) now cos I'm shattered - and I didn't walk that far!! LOL So, don't think I'll be doing much after the Strictly catch up prog that's on now!! LOL
Early night as hitching to the valley in the morning for coffee with a mate

Pool man delivers me bad news after pressure testing.
Buried pipe from plant room to pool has gone pop, probably on an old galvanised fitting somewhere - going to have to lift patio and pool surround to replace the complete run. Kerching!!!!!
Our pool guy will do as a 'private' job, as he did with our ASHP, so hoping not too many ££££s

As long as you give the the face of the pads a liberal lick of axle grease you won't go far wrong.
Disclaimer: The above is a JOKE. Neither myself, nor RTTL or its affiliates recommend greasing brake pads, although if you read the above and do, you're doing the gene pool a favour in the long run.

I know I'm a bit daft, but even I know not to axle grease the face of the pads!! A light spray of WD40 stops the squeaks, no??!!

Dropped the drop links off the Triumph off at the mechanic for him to press the new bearings in ready for me to try and rebuild it all at the weekend.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Rode the pushbike to railway station at Lewes to catch the train to work (13miles). Realised it was a strike day so rode 13 miles home to ride to work on the motorbike. There has been much piss taking by my colleagues.

Re: What have you done today thread?
I was told by Specsavers I need to wear my glasses to meet the required standards of vision when driving? So I rode the AT with my bifocals on the other day. The At has quite an informative dashboard which I'd never seen properly before! So today when I picked my new specs up I asked about prescription lensed sunglasses and transition lenses etc. So I ordered up a pair of transitioned lens bifocals to help with riding in the low winter sun. I was advised they dont work well, if at all, in cars as the windscreens normally block the UV light that causes the lens to react, but I really want them for the bike, so its all good.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Don't really use it with the high screen on the AT. Shame the MX helmet gets so much buffeting or i'd remove it altogether. On my road lid I ride with the visor up all the time, so i guess i could remove it if it hinders the lenses operation?

There are some available that do.

Transitions Drivewear® are the ultimate combination for both sport and driving. The lenses will adjust fully behind the windscreen of the car unlike other photochromic lenses.

Re: What have you done today thread?
We had a pond about that size which got no maintenance and it was pretty silted up and the plants went a bit wild - but it got loads of frogs, toads, newts etc. Had a project and made it quite a bit bigger, put a pump in it and used the rockery to make a small stream with waterfalls etc, to keep it oxygenated. Put a lot of marginals and oxygenators in.Bustaspoke wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 12:28 pm In the garage testing ignition compents on the currentley sparkless XT600 and as it's finally stopped raining for a day I've been winching & digging these out of my little pond.I only put the pond in 3 years ago & I'm made up that it's got frogs or toads in it,but these waters edge plants have seeded & tried to take over. They weren't even there 3 years back

It's more work than the rest of the garden! First it went bright green, which I got sorted so the blanket weed moved in. Not the sort that sits on the top that you can haul off, the sort that's long thin strands that mat together and choke the oxygenators.
The water beetles, skaters and waterboatpersons all moved in in pleasing numbers. The frogs etc not so much. There's a resident great crested newt and I've seen 1 frog. If I pull out anything from the bottom it's full of dragonfly larvae but unless there's spawn in spring they'll have nothing much to eat...unless they like insects instead of tadpoles.
Ho hum. It keeps me occupied.
