That and breaking both legs on a test ride in Portugal...avoiding a car and hitting a wall instead. Then breaking a hip falling off a Vespa while still in recovery

I did my best to get all that kind of stuff over with while I was young.

Moved more tat from one house to another and yet another dump run.

Later I'll be digging up the water pipe until I've found the outside company stop valve, aka a toby. I don't know why.

He got testicular cancer too.

The ladies in the coffee shop said he's a very, very nice man. Does a lot of charity work too. Apart from the mechanical issues he looks quite well, lost some weight and looks younger than I expected.

Probably helps if anyone has any allergies. Neighbours son has not long started in the NB Marine Hotel. They are encouraged to know as well and taught about the wines. When i was in hotels we just had a wine waiter but on busy nights he could be rushed off his feet. Having table staff assist cant be a bad thing i suppose.

Spent most of the day (well, the working day!) trying to sit comfortably on my office chair whilst having a nasty pain in my back (lower right sideish ribs ) . No idea what I've done as it came on on Sunday but I didn't do anything remotely strenuous over the weekend! Probably to do with starting office work again and compensating for the arm that doesn't work properly FFS!

Most of this evening sat with a hot water bottle over the grumpy area to try and relax whatever has caused the hurtyness!!!


Swapped shifts with one of the others for tomorrow as I'm gonna be awake early (every time I turn in bed i wake up cos I hurt ) so I might as well get up early and go in to work!!!


BUT - I did make the biscuits to put together tomorrow to take Viennese Whirls into work tomorrow With proper madagascan vanilla Icing is made, so at lunchtime tomorrow I just have to strain the jam to get the pips out and put them together Also made finger versions so I can put chocolate on the ends - thing they might be Viennese Fingers?!!

Today i feel a bit tense? We're off to Portugal for a few days tomorrow and its normally me that organises everything, but my daughter has taken over. It feels weird not to be checking us in and have all the boarding passes and parking stuff to hand. Didnt realise I was such a control freak!

I'm the opposite. Can't handle all that, so I let the missus do it all.

Yesterday

Well, today has been a challenge! Bloody knackered after two nights of not sleeping properly! I got to work at 7.30, boss called at 7.45!! After 15 mins I had to ask him something and ended up having to do it in English as my brain just wasn't functioning!! So we did the normal switch between French and English depending on which of us needed to speak their own language!!

When the first of my colleagues came in I said "let's have an english day"!!!! She likes that cos she speaks and understands pretty well and likes to practice - and it is the first time since we started work that we've done it!!! The other colleague doesn't so we did half and half for the rest of the day!

Weirdly, the first colleague came in with some essential oil - if she was english she'd be described as hippy-ish!! But we have similar 'alternative' interests and she reckoned this particular oil would help with the muscle pain. Bloody hell, she was right I can't believe that it has actually taken the pain away as much as it has. Not totally, but it's just uncomfortable, not Bastard Painful and I haven't even put it on my area yet, just been 'sniffing' it!! I know that's weird and I'm still not sure about it, but not complaining



And, today it's 12 years since that awful phone call from my wicked step-mother I don't miss him any less now even after so long. Sadly, I don't have many photos of us together - and this one was quite a few years ago!! But I think I might try and get it printed so I can have it on my wall

Gotta go and host a quiz night for 100+ boozy bankers.

Wife and I decided to go to the local Curry's to have a look at the fridge, washing machine and cooker we need for the vicarage we are moving to in mid November. We found one we liked on the floor, umm and arr'd about it and went again to look at another one, then returned to the preferred one to find they had just put a 50% off sticker on it! Bought it, added the washing machine and cooker (10% voucher on the cooker) and that saved us around £400, which is very welcome as my son still needs a bed and the daughter a wardrobe! So my wife's procrastination and constant is it the right one shopping habit saved us big money today.

Back home, walked the dog again, and now doing roast potatoes for the family. Wife will do the other food stuff.

Basically bugger all, but bracing myself for an imminent trip to Costco... & had a look at my portfolio, wishing I hadn't... altho tbf, half the stuff went up, the other half wiped out that gain & then some.

I have spent the day in the care of the NHS getting my foreskin chopped off

I was advised to have it under local anaesthetic because of the risks around going fully under with asthma, fuck that for a game of soldiers, absolute fucking agony from the first injection and all 4 follow ups to top me off during the procedure

They put a bar across the bed, which when it first appeared didn't fill me with confidence, but when they folded the sheets over so I couldn't see I got it (even though I could watch through the reflections in the lights, by half way through if that bar wasn't there and I could have sat up I would have throttled the surgeon.

Commute home, on the Sheffield Parkway, just after the McLaren Composite centre heading towards the M1... overtaken by a low slung yellow lambo thing, an AMG G-Wagon, 2x Lambo SUV things and a matt purple sporty lambo all in a loose convoy.

They must have been wel-jel of my grey diesel ovlov. Took the North bound junction of the M1, off to live like kings amongst the poor people.

The universe is a total bastard. Anyone nearby needs to take its sodding baseball bat away from it

A few weeks ago I found out that my SDad’s sister (my sort of aunt on that basis) was quite ill, a return of myeloma, so she’s having a course of chemo. Upsetting and sad but she sounded positive. We’re not ever so close but we’d all planned to get together for her 70th , but it was May of covid year so as a family we’ve been a bit shit and not actually all been in one place for a party since then


This afternoon I text my aunt in Essex. Just a little “ how are you” text because she was very close to my BDad and basically the o ly person I can talk to about him, and definitely the only person that remembers today and his birthday

Headed to bed early cos I’m on another early start tomorrow. She text be back about an hour ago to ask if she could call. We’ve chatted for an hour which has been awesome.
But the fucking universe deserves a slap - she’s about to have chemo treatment 3/5 (or 6?) for lymphoma

FFS. Why do the lovely people in my family get this shit. She’s been an absolute rock to me, even though we don’t chat often, we have a blast when we do. Even tonight it’s been more laughs and giggles than anything else.

But seriously universe. Sort your shit out and stop sending bad stuff to lovely people that I know!



And, my early night is out now cos despite the laughs and positivity I’m lying in bed in tears, so might just get up and see if I can find some comfort food

I was down the harbour early (ish) this morning to measure up for some bits I'll be making for Ömer's boat but no Ömer. I'm sure he'll call me when he's sobered up.

On the way home I saw Ferhat, our local scrap man so I grabbed him to collect a load of stuff from my house - I'm on the d of de-cluttering. A few years ago I came back from the Christmas/New Year trip to UK to find a BMW D7 boat engine on my balcony. It had come out of my friend Turhan's yacht and was getting water into the combustion chamber. He'd replaced it while I was away. I guessed what the problem was, the exhaust manifold/plenum chamber was cast iron and probably cracked. It was worse than that, it had a big hole in it.

A stainless steel replacement from UK was going to cost £500 and a ss one made to measure locally about £300. I put it on hold. The engine has been sat on my balcony for a few years now and earlier this year I advertised it for sale on our equivalent of ebay. Nobody wanted it, not even for spares and I couldn't generate the interest to get a new manifold, strip, clean and rebuild the engine to maybe generate more interest. It's on Ferhat's van now along with the deformed batteries from my electric scooter and other shite and now I have to clean my balcony. I suppose I should feel a sense of loss but there's nothing right now.
