I think it's mainly just annual mileage, given that it drops by over half when I cut the mileage dramatically?
But I/We used the same miles.
No idea as I just changed my birth year to 1972, at my postcode with £12k PA miles and its gone (up?) to £982.96?
Have you tried putting someone else's details in for a house a few doors down? That'll tell you if it's you or the location? Maybe your IP address sets alarm bells going - aaagh, it's 'im!!!

Your commuting mileage is probably too high.

Don't know what your door to door distance is, but when I was doing 55 miles each way virtually all year the annual mileage came out at around 23,000 (iirc).

If I remember correctly the calc was something like 5 days of journeys, over 48 weeks (allows for holidays) = 48* (5*110) = 26400, and then take off a month or two for winter. (I sometimes trained it in the depths of winter)

Rural West Lancs Fully Comp 12k miles p/a bike value £8.5k.Kept in a garage with a Xena disc lock.Rider age 61 full NCD,no pillion
I just put the details into MCN Compare & the best I got was
Devitt £239.50
Bennetts £250.63
That's fully comp. It's still more expensive than my multi bike for the SV650 & Street Triple doing a combined 12k P/A,but there's no commuting on my policy.

I'll look at it later but I do 60 miles a day, 4 days a week. I get quite a bit of annual leave though (6 working weeks minimum) and certain days we get off on top of that as well. My mileage might not be as high as I think and clearly dropping it down 2k makes a difference...

Looks like it might be worth at least estimating it, and then adding a small amount on for weekend riding.

60mile * 4day * 46weeks = 11040miles. Add on a few thousand for weekends and I@d estimate your mileage at 15k a year tops, so your 12k (is that what you reckoned?) isn't far off actually.

Might be that so few people ask for insurance for that many miles on that bike so they've no data - it's an outlier so up the price goes.

Several of us have tried the same bike and miles in our testing and still get £200-300

It's not that if you ask me

Hadn't seen those posts. Just tried it myself - 51 yrs old in a market town in South Cheshire, 8 yrs no claims, garaged and I'm getting around £260 from the likes of Bemoto and Devitts.

TinPan is being punished for having the audacity to use a Ducati for commuting.

The nerve of him.

Reckon you'd be better off with a big scoot for that commute. 👍

My first Multistrada was used for commuting all year round and i put about 9000 miles in my insurance quotes at the time. Bike in a locked shed with full protected NCD and, at the time, no accidents or convictions and valued at 10.5K. Cost was 185 quid with a rural Norfolk postcode. It went up 30 quid when i moved to a shitter area where bike theft was a local sport for the yoblets and back down again when i moved back to friendly country village again 12 months later

Might also depend on the comparison site he uses. I have had lower figures from confused dot com rather than the specific bike related ones or he might just be a muppet and ticking one of the wrong boxes

Or just as the Count said, he's a wrong un and they have him sussed ;)

Fuck me, look at the excesses!

I usually set the voluntary to £0 for doing quotes and if the compulsory is over £250 they can jog on!
