I think those two ladies have got their business model well sussed out.
Help naive people quit their IT job in the city and set up a pub in the countryside. Charge them loads when enthusiasm is high. Fuck off before reality strikes.
£40,000 for 3 patio umbrellas was a total piss take. I would have told them to get fucked there & then.

Only a 40 something blonde events organiser would ever use the word "Jumbrella"
Also not sure why the Hamster is buying chrome paint at £3000/litre to make steel panels look Chromey. If only there were a better way...

I wasn't really sure....they're a bit more than patio umbrellas!
I didnt mean to imply that the two women are taking him for a ride. Just that they've got a neat little business model. Plenty of people with loads of money who want to change their rat run without necessarily knowing what they're in for, fair play to em I think.

The all-singing all-dancing 10x20ft versions here are about $4,000 each.. so yeah, those two are fucking crooks.

It's all made up for the show, they never intended to get them, they were always going to do the big tent so they could rip off more people at any one time. Morons actually queue to get in and pay like £8 for a sausage roll just cos it's Clarkson.

Yes, but if you're towards the back of the queue you the get the chance to lamp Clarkson if they can't provide the hot meal you want.

I've always liked Jezza and admired how hard he worked to get the pub going
But he's just broken a golden rule of mine.
Service charge. No, no and thrice no

I thought the idea was that he wasn't going to charge mad prices, people would be able to get sensible food at sensible cost
I get the whole "it's British farmed!" argument, but if you go to the Chadlington farm shop literally a mile from his shop you can buy all the same local produce, made by the same farmers, without his mug on it for a big chunk less money.

£7 a pint, plus service charge = nearly £8.
It’s ok - it’s only for “parties of 1 or more”.
Oh.

Pubs are closing down left right and centre, mainly because going to the pub has been falling out of fashion for 30 years. Even when I first worked in pubs as a teenager. The regulars would tell me how 'it used to be' with claims that some nights you couldn't get in the bar and your mates would pass you your drinks out through the window. "The youth of today" just don't want to go out drinking like their parents/grandparents did. Not entirely unconnected to the smoking ban. Many parents/grandparents have given up going to the pub too. A few pubs will survive, but they need a really good gimmick. "Owned by JC" is about as good as a gimmick gets, so good luck to him.
Has anyone else noticed how Gerald is a lot more incomprehensible when his face isn't on the screen ? When you can see his face, he has a strong accent, when you can't it feels very much 'edited for TV'. Which is fine, because it's a TV show after all.

His food prices ain't that bad, a tenner more for a Sunday lunch than at one of our locals, and you get the celebrity pub experience, it's not like folk don't know what they're getting / will pay before going.

TBF all the produce I did buy from his farm shop was excellent! But as above, it's equally good just down the road without his fizzog on it.
Hawkstone beer is decent enough but not outstanding IMO.

Only the ones which haven't been rebranded as Miller & Carter.

Great programme but I'll be in no rush to visit the pub. Too many people and not enough canal side table's with a brolly for shade.
That bloke who does all his accounting and stuff, is they're anything he doesn't do.
and no coke or lemonade.

Just ask for separate bills, he'll soon get a clue.
