Glad the BJ is not in contention. Lying awful bigot who simply swanned about spouting rubbish. A buffoon. We have little credibility at the moment. I know some local politicians who work their butts off for their constituents and really do put in the hours and spend time listening and fighting people's corners. We need more grass roots people who are connected to what it is like to live in the UK in the different areas and how that pans out over the whole country. Oh right, we have that, but there is a strangle hold on media and the upper seats of power.

The truth is a dreadful thing, it sets people free from tyranny and lies. I live by Truth. I also speak out against Labour when they mess things up.

Seriously, you need your meds changing.
No, nothing will change @Ant , he's a stereotypical tribal political warrior.

Serious question: why would a "natural leader" go into current day politics?
Serious answer(s) but not really answering your question.

I can't say with any certainty why anybody would go into current day politics. There are probably as many reasons as people. There will of course be some who want to serve local people as a constituency MP and others who want to serve themselves but I think that the majority in Parliament forget that they were elected to serve.

I'd guess that a 'natural leader' wouldn't go into politics with the intention of becoming leader. The ones I've met don't push to be the top dog, they don't have to. Politics doesn't lend itself to that sort of natural selection.
