No matter what you do to a Maggot, it's still a Maggot.

I didn't realise how few of these were actually made...

I know a lot of the ones I see for sale are crashed Daytona's.

It's in nice nick, but I'm not sure I'd pay £5k for it.

If this didn't have such a ridiculous front wheel and tyre it would be REALLY nice.

It is (or was) a Pantah 600SL

Those are the original wheels I think.

Or - someone's been hideously original and fitted the TL wheels...... (It might even have been a TL originally - I think the frame has been messed about with considerably at the rear)

It'll be well setup, Swinton Motorcycles, don't normally sell bikes, they tune them, including the BSB and BSS WD40 bikes.

You could build one the same for £4K, and £1K of that is getting it painted.

I know the Chunderace swing arm is probably a massive upgrade, but it just doesn't look right.

I agree, I think they look shite, you have to move the shock mounting on the frame to fit it, there's nothing wrong with the FZ 750 swingarm, it's perfectly strong enough, you could brace it if you thought it was likely to flex, the huge rear tyre upsets the handling as well, 160 is about as wide as you want to go on an FZ and there's a lot of people think they handle better with an 18" rear wheel. At the front, Thunderace forks are too short and again make it handle a bit odd when combined with the different yoke offset. Thunderace engines also look wrong in FZ frames because the barrels are inclined at 35 degrees rather than the 45 of an FZ.

If I was going to throw money at an FZ, I would fit a Dymag 17" front wheel, get the forks rebuilt with cartridge emulators, big AP Lockheed brakes, at the rear end, early FZR1000 swingarm (only because it bolts straight in and allows you to use a wider 18" wheel), linkages and rear wheel, small disc, underslung caliper. Engine FZ 750 with FZR1000 barrels giving 911cc, FZ750 carbs, either Hindle or Micron exhaust, and a lot of dyno time. Then try and lose as much lard as possible (there's a lot to go) and painted in the 1986 blue and white colours or maybe 1985 black and red.

If you really want to see what can be done with one, look up Yamaha OU45, it's a replica, built by Yamaha, of the bike that Eddie Lawson raced at Daytona (except the replica has a dry clutch)
