I only ever bother with proper dealer services when there's a warranty in place, once that's timed out the service book get's filed away never to be seen againSkub wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 12:25 pmUsing myself as a (probably untypical) example,I bought my Zed new in 2020. I took the 600 mile dealer service because it was free, but I'm at 12k now and I have no intention of ever going back to the dealer for a service. I dump the oil and filter every 4k and ride on.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 11:46 am
I can't imagine the owner went 13,500 miles without a service, or did he?

£875.89? What did they do? Go and mine some new dilithium crystals on Pluto? (At those prices he probably had the in-between services done at FCL in Cranleigh. I would have!)KungFooBob wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 12:31 pmIt's got them. There's three BMW services with official paper invoices from BMW Guildford.
02/09/16 - 552 miles (Running in check)
29/03/21 - 14000 miles £875.89
11/04/22 - 15815 miles £425.16
Everyone else I've spoken to is a bit meh about the lack of service between 552 and 1400, so maybe I should be too, it does come with a three month warranty afterall.

I've bought it!
They had to go ask the guy who was about to buy it to get off it as it's sold

Doh. Just realised it's not actually Guildford BMW that's selling it. I can still go in and Chinese burn 'em just for fun though.

I'm sure they'll be taking the ad down shortly.
Should be ready for Wednesday, which is handy as thats the day the open late to 8pm, so I can pick it up after work.

Re: I've convinced SWMBO to let me buy a bike!
Not that I'm getting excited or anything, but I've just read the 2016 Triple Black gets ABS Pro rather than the normal ABS of the earlier bikes.
ABS Pro = Cornering ABS!
I don't think I'm going to give it a try, unless I really need too.
Is it Wednesday yet?
The real pisser is than I'm in Romania next weekend and will only get three evenings to ride it before I go!

I've got a week in July booked for a bike tour, I've always fancied a ride to the Black Sea coast, I might even get to see some Russian warships.

My KTM has angle sensitive Abs and traction control. I wouldn't be without it when I'm pushing the front and sliding the back.

I might treat myself to a BMW Navigator 6, but that's all it needs, it's already got everything else (including the pre-wired cradle for said Navigator 6).

Their early ones were £1k!* (Size and weight of a brick - but worked well until old and unsupported).KungFooBob wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 3:11 pm I might treat myself to a BMW Navigator 6, but that's all it needs, it's already got everything else (including the pre-wired cradle for said Navigator 6).

The Nav 6 is made by Garmin and notoriously unreliable, apparently the v2 is much better.
You can get all the info from the bike to display on the Nav screen and control it all with the magic wheel on the left bar.

Re: I've convinced SWMBO to let me buy a bike!
I thought they'd sorted the issues (and were up to Version 7 of the VI?). Should come with a long warranty too. TBH never had any problems with my old BMW one or a Garmin that I bought when the bike one went - with one of the bikes). Used to swap it between bikes and use it in the car but with the Garmin one just popped it in the map compartment on the tank bag.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 3:21 pm The Nav 6 is made by Garmin and notoriously unreliable, apparently the v2 is much better.
