Cafe Racer thread.

Ha, not quite. I cheated. I had a holiday cottage in Glen Moriston so I did the NC in two halves. First clockwise down the epic A 87 which was right on the doorstep, along to the Kyle of Lochalsh so that I went up the Applecross pass and not down it. Also meant I could hit the base of the pass at 7:00 am and didn't meet anyone coming the other way (except a school bus halfway up) and didn't get stuck behind anyone. Then rode the west coast northwards as far as Ullapool and back home on the A835 in time for tea and oatcakes. Next day I went anticlockwise up the east coast. Got to J o' G before midday so had a leisurely ride all round the top end back to Ullapool then cut across country again but this time by the A387 via Oykel Bridge, Bonner Bridge and Ardgay and then took Struie Road back to Dingwall to avoid the A9. That B road section was bloody brilliant actually.

Did that easily in one day but I'd like to go back and ride it more slowly with maybe a stopover in Scourie.

I know I've posted this bike before, but this is the last photo I have of my Dad with his bike. It's taken me a bloody week to track these down!

I really like the colour he had the tank painted.








I am really looking forward to taking this under my wing and riding it (most likely after a thorough nut-and-bolt level reassembly!)

I'm really hoping that we can get a RTTL-Classics meet at some point, Potter, Dazzle, JackyJoll and a few others have got some nice old Brit-iron - would be good to see them all together one day.

When ever I think cafe racer, I think Suzuki Goose. It was cafe racer styled from the factory.

Apart from the weird kink in the pipe, that was a lovely looking bike.

I can't remember what the hell this one is, the wheels look a bit GPz to me but the finned ignition and clutch covers are throwing me. Says DOHC but likely a two valve per pot cos most bikes camcovers went squarer when they went to four valves per pot.
I know I'll kick myself when I know but whats the engine, anyone?

Spendy Keihin CRS carb though, doubt they were standard.

I think they are CMA alloys... I had a pair... which suffered metal fatigue! Fortunately I spotted the crack before they came apart. A chunk fell out as I took the tyres off.

I'm pretty sure I can get the JAPton to MK from Aylesbury (or somewhere appropriate nearby), no idea where the others are based.

Pembry would be a van trip for certain - I think the tank only holds about a gallon.

It’s a great-looking bike.

With that tank, you can top up the engine oil while riding at speed.
