I am very tempted by a Thruxton 1200 ... but it would have to have the fairing. Hoping to test ride one soon...

Nidge _ If you're negotiations for that TS don't work, i've got a mate with an unrestored dual shock P reg TS185 with less then 2k miles on it. selling to finance the resto of several other olde Trail bikes.. Its pricey but a proper original bike

Thanks GP. Truth be told I can have the TS today if I want to pay the price he’s now asking (£2500) but I reckon there’s a bit of haggling still to be had- it’s all part of the fun

Test rode a Thruxton this morning (Premier Bikes) and really liked the engine, suspension and it looks (to my mind) exquisite, but I hated riding it. Too much weight on my palms/wrists and only really made sense above 90mph, it’s a shame because I really wanted to like it but it’s far nicer thing to look at then ride. The Speed Twin I took out afterwards however was a little gem, same 1200 motor but a much more upright riding position, I felt at home immediately and over the same route was much faster/smoother. It’s plain Jane looks aren’t a patch on the Thrucky R but it’s a hoot to ride... decisions, decisions...

The riding aspect has to play a massive part in the decision.

Me and GP are up there at 9:30 tomorrow if you want a natter.

I love the look of the speed twin, its subtle but nicely detailed IMO.

I'm coming to the conclusion that the next bike I buy WILL be an electric bike.

With any luck the K12 will go this year, and I have a genuine use-case for an electric: a regular commute of about 15 miles.
(It would currently be 30 miles, including motorway, if not for lockdown).
My company is moving to Bracknell in August and my flat is in Woking, and I have a garage (albeit without power yet). Ideal use-case for an electric bike. (the Woking-Bracknell main-road route can get incredibly snarled up in multiple locations during peak times, so a bike is ideal for getting through it.)

Very not sure what the bike would be - so starting to look into the options.

The other part of the argument for this is that we're moving to 'working from home' for most of the week - so I need to see just how many days I'll actually HAVE to travel.

For the last 13 years there has been nothing new that sets my trousers on fire. The last bike I really, really wanted so bad it obsessed me,is the one I currently own (ZX10R)

There are some new bikes I admire, but I see nothing I lust after. Maybe it's an age thing, where all the pretty bikes are in the past and (for me) it's all been done. I dunno.

I kinda miss that feeling of planning and scheming to put myself in a position to buy the object of my desire, but as things stand,if my current bike exploded or was nicked,I'd buy another 04/05 Ten.

I shouldn't really be posting on this thread,should I ?

Next?
Either a 450/500 EXC Six Days or the 450/501.
Plus a 125 to go out with it.
10R is staying but the 1400 is going as its space is being used by the 690.

Was that in reply to my post?

I'm a pragmatic rider of motorcycles. :)

If I could afford a new bike it'd be a Yamaha tenere 700,but I can't so I want a cheaper alternative.
I really want something that I can take off road a bit in the peaks etc, but won't become a chore on bigger road days out(not that I do many) or on a 30 mile commute, so somewhere between a proper trail bike and a huge adventure bike.
There aren't many options really.

Not keen on the 650, I like the 800s but a nice one is nearly as much as a t700. I probably won't swop the mt09 for a long while yet anyway, just pondering.

The 650 twin isn't nearly as good as the older 650 single (twin spark model).

Won't be anything new, basically any sports bike since about 1990 will be better than I am, not that I can fit on them anyway.

If the K12RSp holds up, I'll probably start looking for either a late R1100S or I know a bloke with a pretty original R100RS who might just sell to a good home. I know the eldest boy wants my Pan, so I need to have something sensible for carting the missus or younger sprogs about.

This 10 day delivery time for my new Speed Twin is going very slowly- I must have read every road test (not seen anything other than glowing praise so far) and just look at that torque “curve” !!!
