What width bars are you running and under what type of riding ?
Just wondering really. I’ve got 780 on the Aether7 and was wondering with some of the trails whether i should drop it a little… Thoughts on what you’re using etc
I just noticed my lad has been running about 790s with bar ends, but he’s only 13… Which again is quite interesting and we did a ‘put your hands on the bars with your eyes closed’ he ended up with that as being closer to 700 lol.
I've sent him out today with his lockons adjusted and set to 760mm as he's out riding while i'm on conference calls.. So curious to get his feedback when i speak to him in a bit.

Re: What width bars are you running and under what type of riding ?
I run with 780s on both the Cotic and the Oka. The Cotic has 35mm stem and the Oka is 40.
I have tried the HT on 740s which now seem narrow. Obviously they are not - but I think I have just bought into the fashion.
On the most of the stuff on the Downs, and the are around Steyning / Devils Dyke/ Brighton hinterland they are great - but get onto narrow single track and they are a PITA. There is a short piece of single track that runs along the south side of the A27 - and I am having so many tree strikes I am think of fitting hand guards.
I am also running bars with a fair amount of rise on them.
I get the feeling that just as the LLS geometry will soften over the next few years, that bar width will reduce to a sensible level - with a small increase in stem length ( and my 2008 Bfe will be on trend again).
But I don't think we will see the days of sub 450mm bars and 150mm stems again ...

762 on both bikes. Identical bars (Kore) in both sweep, rise and width. Work fine threading my way through gnadgery stuff but also wide enough for control on faster descents. They are relatively low rise to keep weight over the front unless I've dropped the post for a descent.

Whatever my bike came with, I found it comfortable so left it alone, they're a bit wide for some of the tight tracks I like through the woods. I fitted a shorter stem to make it steer quicker, but it's more comfortable with the longer one.

Renthal fat bar, 10mm rise, 800 width.
Used for all kinds of riding but big, steep, gnarly stuff by choice. Not designed for weaving down narrow singletrack between trees, but there's not a lot of that round here.
Quite a contrast to the 450mm wide dead straight bars with 150mm stems from BITD.

Jonathan from TR did an Insta poll including a few pro mates of his. Generally the more professional they were- the narrower bars they run but no real correlation. One of the narrowest was a 6’4 German guy so no correlation there either.
I had mine cut down on my Scott but no idea what they measure. Gives me loads more confidence through the trees.

780 on the Curtis and Enduro, flat Ti on the Curtis and flatish fatbars on the Enduro. Fine for the Downs and Friston but bloody awful at Stanmer.

780 on the Trek Fuel EX. Great on open trails and open(ish) downhills but on overgrown singletracks and through the trees sometimes catch and get thrown off. Am used to 780's so will stay with them.

I saw a mountain bike out here yesterday that had renthal bars! Well, it could have just been a Renthal sticker
No idea if Renthal make bicycle bars but it made me smile!!

Awesome!!
TBF, I know nothing about cycles (except how to fall off them!! ) - but it made sense they were actual Renthal bars, but I could also see and biker sticking the sticker on there instead!!
