We'll go back coz we all sit outside, but folk walking past will be put off by the plain, dull outside.
We went to one of our pre-pandemic haunts in Farndale earlier in the week and a similar thing struck me, no table cloths or proper cutlery set. I used your exact words to Mrs W - like a school canteen. It’s been noticeable in other places we’ve been too.
Hope it gets back to normal sooner rather than later because I like eating out to be civilised.

After 18 months closed, our fave restauarant reopened tonight. Tex Mex place and amazing food. The staff were all pleased to see us and brought out a bone for Elvis to eat while we were eating.
The food really is amazing. We do the whole menu and they ask if we want hot/medium etc.

I can understand why they would not pose for photo's or 'share' sombreros but I can't figure out why they had to take the decorations off the walls?

'Tis the modern fashion. Only old-school restaurants have white table cloths, even high-end gastro places that charge a fortune go for bare wood tables today, with all the cutlery in a lump, rather than laid properly.
I took part in their IPO to the tune of £500, just for shits and giggles mostly; I'd never taken part in an IPO before. T'was a bad first choice, I saw it described somewhere as "the most disasterous IPO in London's history" .
Still, I held on to those shares and now I'm in profit to the tune of £4.10!

And condiments in sachets! I'm going to "The Narrow" next week, it'll be interesting to see how such things are handled there?

Website shows bare wood tables, but proper condiments and cutlery laid properly. I still like a proper white cloth.

Most of the hotels I've been to recently they've removed the minibars (or just not stocking them) - because COVID.

Daughter has done gone got herself a job
OK so it's only part time for beer money but between the 2 offered (she only applied for 2) she picked B&Q over TK Maxx, so I'm a proud parent that she's got off her own arse and decided to get some work whilst finishing Uni and I also see many tools in my future when she get's her staff discount
After 18 months of being messed about, my nephew has finally got a date for his wedding. He had to cancel the second date as the Navy decided that that was the date that he got his wings
He's just sent me an online invitation, woo hoo !
But not so woo hoo is that it's in bloody March !!!!!
Got the outlaws here and last night the the 17 y/o nephew said that he and his burd had to isolate for 10 days in a bedroom at her aunties house. Oh dear, poor lad
