Re: What's the thoughts on this jacket?
My racing leathers were just as crap. TT Leathers.
If I'd been wearing my current Dainese jobbies I'd have incurred much fewer injuries.

It's exactly 80s. I bought one like it (but in blue) in 1989.
[Historic note for any youngsters: there was no 'armour' then, they simply sewed in a layer of squidgy foam (if you were lucky, under a superimposed second layer of leather. Worst case they cut out an area of leather and sewed in a weaker panel ... ), so the diamond switching was to stop it moving. A few years later, the 'earwig' ribbed stitching 'style' was popular]
White paddock boots? I loved mine, the maker's name will cone back to me.

I had a set of TT leathers, they were crap by modern standards, thin leather and some foam padding.

And at your first race meeting the scrutineers would make you cut all the lining out in case it melted during a slide and stuck to your skin.Yorick wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 3:39 pmEd Zackerly.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 3:37 pmI had a set of TT leathers, they were crap by modern standards, thin leather and some foam padding.

I had Frank Thomas leathers, and there was no need to cut the lining out for track days. It soon fell out by itself

Didn't the original Frank Thomas go bust and were bought out by some budget bike gear concern?Hot_Air wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 6:15 pm I had Frank Thomas leathers, and there was no need to cut the lining out for track days. It soon fell out by itself

Wasn't it (high end) BKS were bought out (but now operate in parallel)?Skub wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 7:13 pmDidn't the original Frank Thomas go bust and were bought out by some budget bike gear concern?Hot_Air wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 6:15 pm I had Frank Thomas leathers, and there was no need to cut the lining out for track days. Yup:
2008
A limited range of BKS off-the-peg clothing – including a James Toseland replica suit – will be launched in 52 selected Frank Thomas dealerships later this year. The brand’s current made-to-measure suits, which retail at approximately £2000, will continue to be manufactured by BKS founder Sansom and his team.

Re: What's the thoughts on this jacket?
Run by Brian Sansom, BKS (Made-to-Measure) Ltd has always been a standalone company, producing the highest quality leathers.
However, Frank Thomas bought the rights to use BKS branding on off-the-peg clobber. After FT went bust, J&S bought them out and obtained the rights to use BKS branding.

So, there are two BKS leathers on the market, which is confusing for all. Also, I imagine the present situation is a bit galling for Brian K Sansom, whose initials form the brand name.

While their textiles are médiocre, I hear Furygan makes exceedingly good leathers
