I've done that for the last 5 years or so. Always rode in leather jeans/jacket. Now I wear Bullit denim jeans and my Furygan leather 90% of the time.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 11:11 am
I had a dark blue (nearly black) one like it from 1985 to 1995, I've rediscovered how nice it is to ride a bike in jeans and leather jacket (rather than full leathers or textiles) I'm considering going full 80s

Ah, from the days when ripped jeans were an outcome, not a fashion statementLe_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 11:11 amI've rediscovered how nice it is to ride a bike in jeans and leather jacket (rather than full leathers or textiles) I'm considering going full 80s

No thanks, didn't like it in the 80s, don't like it now, I preferred New Wave and Punk in the 80s.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 1:47 pmYou're a biker, it's law that you listen to 80's Rock!

I heard he did a lot of penisillin injections to help young boysLe_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 10:47 amGoing off on a massive tangent on my own thread, when he was alive I thought he was a massive twat, and I didn't like his music, but the information I've found out about him after he died about how he helped people, turns out he was a really sound bloke.

Most bike gear in the 80s looked cheap by modern standards

Them jackets were around in 70s. That's what you bought if you were skint or a greebo.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 2:57 pmMost bike gear in the 80s looked cheap by modern standards

It's exactly 80s. I bought one like it (but in blue) in 1989.
[Historic note for any youngsters: there was no 'armour' then, they simply sewed in a layer of squidgy foam (if you were lucky, under a superimposed second layer of leather. Worst case they cut out an area of leather and sewed in a weaker panel ... ), so the diamond switching was to stop it moving. A few years later, the 'earwig' ribbed stitching 'style' was popular]
White paddock boots? I loved mine, the maker's name will cone back to me.
Ashman. No joy on searching for them.

Re: What's the thoughts on this jacket?
I've actually got one of those jackets, inherited alongside the Bonnevillle. It's no bloody use as a bike jacket and I don't frequent the right sort of establishments to wear it as a casual jacket.Horse wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 10:54 am

Re: What's the thoughts on this jacket?
Actually thinking about it I might have two jackets of that style, the first one was dark blue and the second one black, I gave the blue one away, can't remember what happened to the black one.
I had a 40 mph SMIDSY in the blue one, it survived fine and so did the shoulder and arm I slid down the road on, the same can't be said for my knee which was protected by denim.
Of course if you wanted to be properly 80s you'd have a paddock jacket, just a thin layer of nylon and foam protecting you from an unplanned tarmac interface.
