I had a quick shifter on the track R6, but never got on with it and went back to using the clutch. Always do. Muscle memory I guess it's just a habit.

He's probably one of the most approachable guys and knowledgeable on Yamaha tech, I'm sure he wouldn't mind a call and could probably offer you a shed load of both shiny and performance upgrades :thumbup:

There is still plenty of fun to be had with a UP Qs only. No rolling, just pinned, infact they often work better under higher load. So hard acceleration is good fun and sounds great on road and track. Yes, completely unnecessary but fun.

Having the down Qs auto blipper would make your life easier at the end of the track straight when hard on brake, but again, its one of them.

Personally, I wouldn't bother.

I do get that it's easier in track. But in honesty i think having a normal bike may be better to start with, it's already very very different to the 690 in so many ways and i don't do 'different' :crazy: :crazy: :crazy:

790 was in the running more than once. But both mine and Tricky had the counter shaft seal and cam cover gasket go, they're still having same issues even on the 20s. But also I read back on some of the threads I wrote on 790 as whilst I liked it, I didn't love it. I had issues with saddle to peg position which gave me a few issues, but also, I wanted to do something completely different and to move onto a different bike and experience.
I went into the test ride expecting to not like it, to have issues with riding position, anything really, but it never happened at all, it all felt very refined, precise and lovely.
Well, until you open the throttle, then it just feels epic!

4, maybe. I've had 2 R6s, 6 R1s, 1 thundercat, errrrm that may be it.

Assuming its the same as the MT10s, then std Yam one is pretty good-a down QS/blipper I really am not too fussed about (unless it was a track bike I'd definitely want it if I could have it), but up QS is pretty much a must-have for me now on roadbikes.

This is what is making me think my next bike won't be a KTM. Front runners for me are a 1090, a 790 and an XSR or Tracer.

With the KTM there is a always some little niggly issue or other. Rocker arms, oil leaks, coolant leaks etc. With the Yam you could probably feed it oil/filters only and it'd run to 100k miles.
