Peak District EMTB ride, Saturday 21st August

An EMTB ride - or Amish, if you're fit as f**k - round the Kinder Enduro loop, setting off from Barber Booth at 10:00hrs.

20 miles and 4,200 foot of climbing.

Up Jacobs Ladder, across the Edale Cross moor top, down the far side of Kinder, up and across Middle Moor, Lantern Pike, Chinley Churn, Roych Clough and down Chapel Gate back to Barber Booth.

We're mostly in Pembrey that weekend mate.

From the 23rd i'm up near Bakewell with teh family. We're planning on Leeds Bike Park on the Tues 24th, but if you can persuade me and Couch you can create a route that both me and the boy can climb on manual bikes and enjoy.... we're not against something that week. But we're not ebike riders so won't be on them

I'm not against it for the 24th.. the lad fancied Leeds, but as you can imagine it's more him than it is me. I also think on the 26th we'll be at Lady Cannings for a few hours, then up the top from there and looping back down either to the cafe or to the pub on the road at the bottom (i need to look into it a bit more) but as i say, it's got to be somewhat realistic for me and him. I can do the mental side better than him... So maybe makes more sense to do something on the morning of 26th with you, along with some Cannings and then you can extend your ride afterwards ?

Another thought is that Couch brings the HT with him and i ride that, the boy then rides the Liv... but as you can imagine, he's not as strong as us, so lifting/carrying up trails is a no.... So if you could make the Up bits somewhat Fireroad instead of hike a bike up rocks... That'd work too for me.

I was going to suggest Black Rocks on the 24th, it's like a bike park and there's some properly challenging downhills there without masses of long climbs. It's about 20 minutes from Bakewell.



I'm not round the rest of the week as I'm down in Cornwall.

Have a look at my other bit above, then have a chat with Couch.... maybe even open a discussion on Whatsapp. We're up for the week anyway, but have plans on 25th and 27th.... So looking at your reply, 24th works well.... It's just a question of where and what.. If Black Rocks works with the boy in terms of riding, he can ride the Liv there in Emode as long as wonderboy brings me the HT....

I can pretend to be surprised if you want, but I'm not, given Couch's stated preference for motorway smooth blue flow trails*....

...and the fact that the only time he's been to Black Rocks before he ended up sliding down a very small, mild, descent on his face.

Horses for courses and all that.

Thanks for the invite, but urban bike parks are as much not my bag as the gnar isn't for Couch.

Nope, that’s the widow maker, which TBH is a bit tame compared to the NC (though I got shown some “locals” stuff in nearby Rough Tor plantation that I bottled out on it was so steep).

NC starts near Hunters Tor (Peck Farm nr North Bovey) and wiggles it’s way across open Moorland before dropping into Lustleigh Cleave and back towards Foxworthy. To quote a mate in “fook me, you weren’t exaggerating, it goes from fun to World Cup DH in two corners”.

You forgot to also remove drops and rocks, a nice supermoto mtb, a steep twisty windy downhill run and plenty of knee down action. Awesome

But yeah my preference is for fast flowing blue trails, Cannock was very good, blue flows at bpw are too. Now where’s my tarmac downhill ?
