Re: A right now thread
Sitting at home drinking a nice cuppa and watching Mont Blanc go pink as the sun goes down. Bloody glad that the sun is finally out. The last week or so has been shocking - more like a UK autumn than a French mountain summer!! Woohoo for the forecast staying the same now as it says it'll be sunny for the next ten days!! I know it lies, but I am crossing my fingers!

Slow cooking? There's no charcoal! Nice evening for it though.

Perhaps it’s others winding yorick up - he does tend to bite ridiculously easily.

I must have mentally blocked it out! (There's no oil or seasoning on steaks either - maybe he was just having a dry run )MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Sun Aug 08, 2021 7:49 pmSee that big green gas bottle by the side of it :shudders:Count Steer wrote: ↑Sun Aug 08, 2021 7:11 pm

You want to read his posts in the style of a Haribo advert. Much more entertaining

I must be in a minority if one. Never seen the point in home BBQ's when you have a perfectly good kitchen threw a set of doors.

For me, cooking and eating outside on a sunny day is lovely and saves being stuck indoors, cooking in the kitchen. Plus I love the added smokey taste a good bbq gives to the food. It chars it in a different way to conventional cooking.

Yeah that... but without the leaving it... or the pool.Potter wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 8:06 am I like cooking on the BBQ because there is no work to do afterwards, I cook, take the food off and leave it, every now and then I might give it a scrape but that's it, it never seems to get manky, perhaps the ants keep it clean, or maybe it's the heat, but it's never an issue, every now and then I empty the drip tray.
I cook all meat on the BBQ, we don't use anything else, so it gets used 4-5 times a week.
Like Tiepin says, there is also something nice about cooking outside, every now and then I'm standing cooking, looking at the garden and pool and I have a little moment to myself where I think life isn't too bad.
But BBQing meat means a beer too and sitting on the chair listening to music while it cooks... it's a good place to be.

If my place had a balcony or easy outside access, I'd definitely be into BBQ stuff!!

Re: A right now thread
Hmm, Probably been to to many shite ones where the host decided the sauce/flavour what would be whatever shite Tesco sells in a bottle. Splatter it on, they will love it. I was in Bakewell two years back with abut 30 other happy campers. Everyone was told bring a bit extra for the BBQ and/or make your own sauce/relish. That was a good BBQ as you got different takes on the sauces and some nice local produces sausages from all over the country. OK there was no steaks but i did enjoy that. That was my last one as i would not risk eating at them now as food needs to be gluten free. Even the cross contamination of cooking on the same grill can knock me ill. I like the idea of the ants doing the cleaning though

Friend in Germany has a BBQ on his balcony what is off his kitchen. Shoves his meat in the same pan and oil like he would on the stove

Re: A right now thread
Would definitely do that if I had a balcony, but that's cos my place is so small - would be nice to have an actual kitchen too
But I'd prefer to actually BBQ!!
