Willy Deville - A Tribute
I post this as a film on the life of Willy DeVille is just about to be finalised. From one of the most underrated musicians - especially in the U.S. but not in Europe, particularly the Netherlands, France and Denmark - I give you one of my all time favourites, Willy Deville formerly of Mink Deville. A musician/songwriter rated highly not just by Bob Dylan and Knopfler but also by many of his peers.
First off, Hey Joe penned by Billy Roberts and brought to fame by Jimi Hendrix. I much prefer this mariachi version. It's almost as if he's doing it tongue in cheek and having a smile. It sounds great and I play it almost every day. Willy Deville wasn't shy of experimenting - in more ways than one!
Next a track written by Willy from an album produced by none other than Mark Knopfler. The song was nominated for an Oscar soundtrack award when used on The Princess Bride. soundtrack. What a voice!
Finally, as live concerts go, he was forever 'on the road'. In my opinion, this professionally produced video of him Live and Unplugged in Berlin is one of the finest live videos of any group/individual I have watched. Outstanding sound, lighting and photography with a great minimalist stage set. And then there's the range of songs [Blues, Rock 'n' Roll and Soul] and a great rapport between himself and the two musicians - with Willy having the odd drink and cigarette.
Nice that the video has none of the usual excessive yelling and hollering that spoils many a live concert.

That's why I stopped riding/driving out by the Burnham Bends. Had way too many near misses with oncoming bikes. Not quite like that though!

Re: PG's Mega Youtube Thread.
I saw that a few days and was somewhat surprised. Surly a Tesla with all its wizardry would at least tell the driver the door is open?

Re: PG's Mega Youtube Thread.
On the original FB video that that is ripped from, the poster states the car was 'showing off' so I assume the driver knew the door was open and was trying to prove how cool gullwing doors are.
