We're going camping for a couple of days. Normally I'm a very happy camper but we're supposed to be out of the house in 18 days time and there's shit loads to do. Wifey isn't doing much as we haven't exchanged contracts yet, and I can see her point. But 20 years in a 4 bedroom house and we've nowhere to go (that's a good thing), lots of stuff to sell, charity shop, dump and store, the last thing we need at the moment is a break.

I quite enjoy moving, once I've actually decided to move, the biggest hurdle.
I think judicious thinning of the hoard, reorganisation and (somewhat) rediscovery is rather cathartic.

But yeah it does take a while to fnurgle the keep/sell/charidy/dump pile of goods.

When it comes to 'dump' I had great success just leaving stuff in the driveway with 'free' written on it - got rid of loads of stuff that way that was too rotten to sell but 'too good' (sort of) for landfill (or the pikey man's back pocket anyway)

Finding out that part of the property we were going to buy is not part of the land registry details, so belongs to another land lord. Just so annoying as although they have used that land for 20 years, they have not done anything to claim it. So we have dropped it and moved on to searching again. Costs us 3 months of time in the house hunt.

Did you see who did own it? It could be that it isn't registered yet and can be claimed by the occupier. That only helps you if you have your heart set on it and are prepared for them to sort it out.
This happened at my last place when the driveway didn't originally appear on the registry entry, it was on another entry assigned to the same person but they didn't know it.

It is on the registry to another owner and it is a messy affair to sort. the property is freehold, but the disputed bit of land is on a leasehold landlord.

Hence looking for greener grass elsewhere. Pity, as we liked that house and garden!

I suppose it depends on the terms of the lease. My first house was leasehold but it wasn't a problem. It was about 80 years old and there was the remainder of a 999 year lease with a ground rent of half a crown a year. I could afford that. ;)

Maybe I missed that week? Or maybe it's because our scout leader was female ?!

What's wrong with a good, old-fashioned double thumbs up? Saying 'Fandabbydozy' is optional.

It's traditional. You bite gold to check that it's real gold and you're not being swindled. Why would they not do it?

You're right. It's not like the IOC would ever be embroiled in scandals over back-handers, corruption and bribery.

Wait...hold on a minute...
