The Repair Thread

Post by Silly Car »

What have you repaired or mended to make do rather than chuck in the bin and buy new?

I’ve just added a couple of new cutler’s rivets to this for an uncle who has owned it for some 50 years and didn’t wish to part with it after all those years.

I couldn’t quite get the rivets flush without fear of sanding away the handle, but they are only fractionally above the surface and the knife still has a beautiful feel to it.

The rivets came from https://www.workshopheaven.com/cutlers-rivets.html and needed to be cut down by around 5mm to fit properly.

I really should get around to replacing the scales on my own, knackered, set :D

Great site Silly Car - bookmarked. I always get a load of satisfaction from mending something especially when it's designed not to be fixed and just chusked away.

Just fixed the wiring on my FZ750, I've got a garage full of old motorcycles that have all been repaired rather than replaced.
