Now all we need is a hydrogen pump somewhere west of Bristol and we will all be told to give up fossil fuels.

Has Mr Musk watched Spaceballs too many times?

I suppose it is one up from Ludicrous speed.

Tesla Model 3 the UK's biggest selling car in June

5,468 T3s, beating 4,629 Golfs.

But the odd thing is that they haven't been in the top ten for the rest of the year.

Counting registrations rather than sales?
So that will be a years supply arriving on the same ship.

Mercedes announced last week that they're cutting ICE development by 80% and allocating €40bn for the development of EVs up to 2030. By 2025 you'll be able to buy an electric equivalent of every model in their range.

As part of these drive they've also acquired a number of technology firms covering a whole range of things from recycled material, batteries and motor design. I am extremely happy about this ;)

That was my first thought, although ghat means a lot of depreciating assets parked somewhere. Unsold new is one thing, unsold registered is instant price drop.

My other first thought was a massive (rental?) fleet purchase.

Sounds good but is that every model in the current range or every model in their SUV only future range? Hopefully we'll start to get a better choice soon.
I was looking at a possible EV for me a few days ago, it had roof rails but they were cosmetic only with no loading allowed. Most seem to be no towing either, I don't know if that's because they know people who move loads around won't be interested or if it spoils their figures somehow.

There's a great pic doing the rounds on FB of a Tesla sitting on a rollback tow-truck parked at a Tesla charging station. I guess they couldn't just show up & pour enough electricity from a bucket to get the vehicle to the *gas station*.

If I had the money right now, this would be headed to my garage:

Gee, maybe not buy a car from 360Km away with no local service back up...

.. or just buy a regular car...

Got a mate with the 8 valve version of that, plus someone I worked with has the 16 valve one.

I can get a really good deal on a Tesla through work. It’s the Tesla 3 and I think it’s £250/month all in ( insurance and tyres etc).

I just don’t think I need it right now. I’m probably driving less than 100 miles a months atm

That is a good deal...

We're getting two schemes at work soon, one covering a single brand and one covering any EV. Hopefully there will be something in there for me. What I really want is a Polestar 2.

I'm a bit so so about Teslas. On the one hand the EV aspect is well developed and the supercharger network is by far the best. On the other hand the "being a car" aspect of them seems pretty pants.

I like the look of the Polestar I think. It's hard to tell as their website is full of close-ups as if they don't want me to see the whole car. The one I could find looked pretty decent and it seems to do stuff I'd expect from a car.

Polestar 2....

Image

Top spec one has more than 300 mile range and 400bhp. It also has optional adjustable Öhlins suspension with fancy slow and fast rate dampers. Seems kinda pointless on what will almost certainly be a mid level employee's commutin' wagon.

Other reason I want one is there is a dealer about 500m from my house

It's probably the best I've seen so far but the nearest place I can go and see one is 50 miles away so I expect there's nowhere near I can get it serviced, that may improve by the time in ready to buy.
I parked next to a Tesla 3 today, not quite sure why but it's well ugly from the front.

Its the really low front and lack of a grille which makes Teslas look odd. The upside of that though is lower drag and a massive windscreen. When you're sat in them the view out of the front is excellent.

I'm quite fortunate in that pretty much every major player in this market has a dealer in MK. The only thing I can't buy here is stuff like Ferraris etc.
