So, a small box has arrived!
Hopefully all the bits in there for the final push to be ready for the big reveal!
Except the airbox clips are 2 piece, and we only have 1.
Bugger!
However, that won't stop a grade a bodger like myself.
So, cue A Team music............

1 box of roll pins, of course none the right size!
Drill and grinder for makeshift lathe
And ta-da

Right, just need to summon up some strength and enthusiasm to finish it now!

Bit miffed that the nice Ducati guy didn't tell me they might need pins! But, AWESOME fix! Which one of the A Team are you??

Oh, I had a muffled call from a guy at a Ducati dealer - he didn't say which one or what his name is!! And I had to get a friend to confirm my translation of the message
Will ring back tomorrow as he might be able to help sort out the CoC - crossing fingers :D

That petrol pot was spotless 20 mins ago.
Glad THAT didn't go through the fuel system.
Might give it another gallon, just to be sure.
Guess who's going to be stripping down the carb on the mower fairly soon?

So we have moved onto the rear brake in the resto-commission of the little 600.
I'm guessing you're going to say ' they're all like that sir!'.
Bike has been sat for at least 4 years, so everything is a bit stiff!
But WHY!!!!!!!!!! in the name of all that is holy would you put the bleed nipple at the LOWEST point of the brake system.
Caliper off and hung from a bungee and a quick back bleed we have line pressure.
Now the brake is dragging........ffs!!!!!!
Caliper off, pads out, clean all bits up, grease pins, push pistons back in, out, in, out, in, out, in, out for about 5 mins until they move nice and freely, re-assemble and we have a proper back brake.
Adjust up the push rod on the master cylinder and I'm pleasantly surprised at how effective it is.
This could be a first for a Ducati, a working rear brake!
ALL that's left to do now is sort out the electrical pixies and make sure they go where they're supposed too, and plumb in the tank/filter and pipework!
Oh and sort out the downstairs toilet at home..........which woman will be happy first!!!!!!!!!

Kudos for getting the rear brake working :D They are shite on both of my 900ss of the same vintage and even my 2016 Monster1200 has a useless back brake!
Looking forward to seeing this finished. They are fun bikes even with the little 600 lump

Bike really, but plumbing is ok too.
Nice idea to protect the new floor with those bits of crate though.

Ok, we need some help.
Front brake light switch.
Anyone know what connects the brake lever to the switch?
There is a hole through the body from the switch to the lever, but nothing there and the parts fiche the s bloody useless!

There's a little plastic rod that runs through that apparently...
Button pressed in is light off, released is light on. One thing you need to be careful of is that the the button on the switch is activated by a tiny plastic rod which runs through the lever bracket and presses up against the lever. It is quite small and easily lost. My problem was that this was not pressing evenly onto the microswitch button. Just lubricating the plastic rod with WD 40 and making sure the two aligned propertly was enough to restore working of switch. Didnt have to buy the hyrdraulic alternative.

and we have a quick quiz

What's got at least 5 gears, a mediocre back brake, a functioning speedometer and no neutral light?

Yes, she's rolling under her own steam, albeit without a fuel tank on, but journeys of up to 400m are possible!
