What can the Admins do to help, any requests for changes, updates, etc.

Have you tried middle click on your mouse, or have I misread the question?

In his defence, most sites do open hyperlinks in new windows.

Middle click??
Your scroll wheel, mash down instead of scrolling with it.

Linux Mint lets you configure the mouse. Preferences>Mouse & Scrollwheel.

Simultaneous left and right click emulates middle button click too.
