I think I mentioned previously that I knew this fella called George.
He was a good friend* of a mate and was always around the place.
I didn’t take to him much , but as he was a friend of Burt** I tolerated him. Even to the point of stepping in to help him out one night outside some club in Brum.
He was always telling us that he was going to start a Band…been talking to Malcomn McC…..was rehearsing with Bow Wow Wow….. was going on Stage with them at the Palais….
To me it was a fantasy world he lived in, and would never make much of himself.
Boy, how right I was.
*yeah that
** made up name as it was in George’s Biography and ended up in Court.
If he didn't make it, why did he have a biography?

I have a really tenuous link. My father in law was a draughtsman many years ago and his boss used to talk about his niece who was getting started in acting and was going to be really big one day, the bosses surname was Bonham-Carter.
His niece? So your dad in law's boss was the Baron?
My wife told me so I'm not sure which uncle it was, I don't imagine him making up a story that unglamorous.

I also am unable to make sense of that story.
Even after “Whoosh, God.”
It's not God, unless his is the Church of the Poison Mind.

I see we have some "infamous* people..
I knew one like that. Bloke named Kevin. He was a barman at the Canterbury Arms in Brixton. He could be a bit of a handful when he had a few drinks in him.
Cops showed up at the pub one day & arrested him. He'd got shitfaced drunk the night before & raped/murdered some 80+ yo woman. This would have been around 1980.
I was a resident there in those times.
I was more of a Railway Arms sort of guy. You know, hiding in the corner trying not to be noticed by the Workers Revolutionary types.
I did pop in to the Canterbury on occasions. Was there for the first Pack gig and a few with the Straps. Och I
Funnily enough, Vince O'Dowd used to live opposite me. Nice old fellow but didn't have much time for his Nephew, which I'd guess was probably due to his nephews sexuality...

Rear bar was coppers turf, the front two were Provo supporters in one & squatters in the other. Used to buy weed from the local drug squad, most of them were stoners.
Um. Richard Leese, leader of Manchester council. John Wetton, bronze medal last time the Olympics were in Tokyo, my next door neighbour when we lived in Wales....a police constable at Chester...murdered his wife. Probably infamous really.

I met him at a perfumery do - he was a bit of a knob
Years ago I happened upon a young lady in her place of work (Saturday job) and after a bit of banter we arranged a date for that evening, which was a lot of fun, I didn't lay a finger on her all evening and we had a right laugh, it was a really fun time, we had the same sense of humour, etc.
At the end of the night we ended up sat on a bench, looking up at the stars and she was telling me about drama school and how she planned to be a famous actress. I said if that happened I'd sell my story to the newspapers - and she said "what story? We haven't done anything to tell about". It sounded like a challenge to me, so I leaned over and the night got even better.
But I'd never tell for two reasons, firstly it wouldn't be proper, and secondly no one would believe me anyway.

Used to occasionally knock around with Kevin and his brothers when we were growing up in Essex.
Hadn't seen him for near on 20 years. In 1994 (or 1995) my rider crashed at Donnington qualifying for the National 250 championship. And who should show up but Kevin, offering help and parts should we need them. He was there helping out two brothers, both racing in our class. Bloody good they were too, both going on to better things. Always a decent bloke, bit of a hard case, but you knew where you stood with him.
Sad to read this in 2010-sad for his partner yhat he murdered. Was surprised, but at the same time not that surprised.
"Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?"
"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."
