So that's £600 on the front end, £800 on the rear and i still may think "Honda still felt better" and i'm now an extra £1500 in.

Don't forget, we're not talking about a rubbish bike here in the XSR, it's already a cracking thing and handles great.... Just not AS great :D
Exactly- you can put whatever cartridge kit, springs shock on it, alter ride heights and other "bolt-able" type adjustments but you will only change it to a certain degree - it'll still feel like an XSR, great if you like an XSR, not so much if you want a different feeling/handling bike

That's my view too.

I spent considerably more than I'd anticipated on getting the suspension the way I wanted.Nearly a grand on a forks revamp isn't to be sniffed at in my world,but I keep my bikes fairly long term,so because it gives me pleasure I can justify it to myself.

I didn't want 'plush' from the suspenders,I wanted compliant. I wanted something that wouldn't hammer me to death on shitty roads,nor throw me off line on a bumpy corner. It's always going to be a compromise on the road,with most bikes on stock suspension you can have 'plush' which will come with vague and wandering,or more sporty,giving more feel but less comfort on real roads.

The middle ground is the holy grail for me. I've only ever found that with aftermarket suspension.

I've never ever regretted spending money on brakes or suspension.

The only consideration with my purchases are, can i afford it.... and how will Welsh muffin react :)

As long as i can afford it and i want it, it gets bought.. The potential value in 1 month, 6 months or 5 years isn't of any importance to me.

Well i got a call back from yesterdays discussions which were interesting. Without getting into too many details they offered me £6500 for the XSR900 which is a decent price.

However, as we've discussed this morning, i won't be taking it up... But was deffo an interesting experience riding it.

The main issue with the xsr and the mt it’s based on is the long forks and high front end. This made a bit worse as the xsr also has higher bars. Lower bars on the xsr would give more front end feel and the suspension would also help but you’ll never overcome the high front end. The CB is lower at the front but the main benefit is it’s a Honda and they always make very user friendly bikes, more so than any other maker. I really like that about them. Still I must try the CB and compare it to the Tuono 👍

Well, you call it an 'issue' but it's not actually an issue, it's a great bike. It handles really well.

However, the Honda handles better yes.

If they could use a Yamaha triple engine, I'd buy it tomorrow

I wouldn't shit on a Triumph Triple if it was on fire and eating chips.

I don't have premium budget. For a 19 we'd by up in the £11-12k. That's almost double the XSR. I've not ridden one, but it can't be double the bike

Just for comparison you should try an 18/19 MV Dragster.
I thought it was a great chassis and flattered my riding.

I bought a CB1000R when they were first out, used it as my commuter for a couple of months then sold it on and bought a 1050 Speed Triple. Purely my opinion, but 4 cylinder motors don't really have a place in naked bikes. I've owned a few over the years that always seemed like a good idea at the time but have been sold a few weeks later. The Speed Triple was an altogether nicer bike, as was the KTM that I bought after that.

I test rode an s1000r today nice bike but did nothing for me, handled well and fast but more than happy too climb back on my Ktm.
