I reckon someone somewhere might be able to make something half decent out of that.

Mine was a 90 model, on an H plate... I think they ran for one more year. I suppose it's just conceivable that one sat around in a showroom unregistered for another six years, but it seems unlikely.

That's a 1991 FZ750, but it's the same as an 89 just different colours, and pretty close to an 87, which isn't massively different to an 85.

MOT check says first registered 1st August 1997. That alone smells a bit off cause that's the date R reg first became active.

I always assumed the reg pertained to the year of manufacture not the year of sale, but apparently not.

It's got a Motorcycle City number plate, could be it's a grey import that someone said was new when they registered it, or it could have sat unloved on the showroom for 6 years, I know I like them, but they were never good sellers, and I wonder why Yamaha UK continued trying to sell them for so long, it was replaced by the FZR750 in 1987 in the US and Australia.

I bought my fz750 from Barnsley as well, it was a lot nicer than that!

I bought my first one in Ipswich, it was very nice condition, second one from Bedford, it's mechanically sound but cosmetically challenged, it'd cost more than it's worth to make it look nice.

True if it's brand new, if it's imported 2nd hand they usually try to match the plate with the year it was first used.

Ah yeah OK, and if it was imported as a brand new unused bike....makes sense.
