What you after, i may have one
I do love stuff like that.Jody wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 11:00 am Just had a spat with the restaurant owner on the campsite because we did not get a proper discount when we had a meal and beers while watching the football last week.
He explained his system and it goes like this.
A pint normally costs €6.65
Staff discount means they cost a much more reasonable €4
(Also bear in mind that they always put a huge head on the beer, so no-one ever gets the full measure.)
UNLESS so it turns out, we have food too. If we have food we get 15% off everything.
In summary
4 pints cost €16
4 pints and a €5 item from the menu costs €26.86
MAybe she's right and you're wronggremlin wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 2:15 pm Went shopping with the missus yesterday. Few bottles of wine in the trolley, as per usual. The checkout lady joked about not asking for ID as we both looked over 25. My missus commented that she was under the impression that the legal age to buy alcohol was 18. Nope, the cashier informed us, the law was changed a few years ago to 25 and pointed at the 'Challenge 25' sticker on the till. I informed her that this was a campaign to encourage people between 18 - 25 to carry id as they would be challenged. Nope, I was wrong and she had been told as much b y management.
It was at this point that I realised that any further attempt to point out the error of her thinking in this area was futile.
'Good job we're both over 25 then, eh?' I said and made my exit....
FFS. Seriously?
Well, yes I know that's the point. It triggers me but I let it pass, although I hate lazy pricing or dimwits who can't add up 3 things in their heads ffs. But yeah 20c for a quiet life. It also triggers the missus but she can't let it go.
Eh ? I've SORN'd loads of bikes and never been charged a penny ?McNab wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 4:27 pm £27 to declare my bike SORN! That's £27 for the Government to allow me to not ride my bike.
I've only used the thing twice in the last year and a half and only now decided SORN would be a good idea, but I've got a feeling I'm gonna have to go back to the office at some point soonish, so I'll be taxing it again anyway. (Yes. I understand I am a fool).
But, 27 fucking pounds to allow my bike to not be used.
SORN costs nothing.McNab wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 4:27 pm £27 to declare my bike SORN! That's £27 for the Government to allow me to not ride my bike.

Sounds like you've gone onto a scam site that look exactly like the gov site
If SORNing pissed him off, can you imagine how he'll react to being scammed
oh dear oh dear...Nidge wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 5:29 pm 30 secs googling and I was on declaresorn.co.uk which asks for all the relevant info (V5C ref number and ref no), putting nonsense into the fields was accepted and took me to the £27.50 payment page…. @McNab I'm afraid you’ve been had- and to top it all your bike’s still not officially SORNED
Especially if they're one of the bottom feeders that add a recurring monthly charge in the small print
As Weeksy says, it's free. Did you go through one of the scam sites that charges a 'fee' to submit the info?McNab wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 4:27 pm £27 to declare my bike SORN! That's £27 for the Government to allow me to not ride my bike.
