Terrible Factory Paint Jobs

Post by KungFooBob »

Inspired by the MV Weeksy posted and people suggesting that my GSXR isn't the prettiest, what are the worst 'stock' colour schemes (proper factory schemes not aftermarket)?

I'm throwing in the Suzuki 1997 GSXR750....

Image

I think there was a purple and yellow version too, but I'm struggling to find a pic.

What you got?

The first D model 'Toffee Crisp' scheme divided opinion.

Early SRADs came in blue/white, red/black (obviously the cool kids had this colour scheme) the yellow cheese grater above and a purple and yellow, the cheese grater was pretty awful, but not as bad as those awful shell suit Suzukis from 1992 to 1995.

The first YZF750 was even more pink than your GSX-R Image

The 'Pinky' YZF is a classic. An inspired scheme from Yamaha!

Oi, I had one of them and bloody loved it, when I bought it I wanted a pink one, the green ones were mingingly dull.

By the way I agree with your 1999 blade example but the other blue 1999 blade scheme I had was one of the best I reckon

I always thought you had to be a bit special to buy a Red K1 over the traditional Blue...

One of the ugliest bikes ever, admittedly, but truly horrid looking in this scheme

Was that a factory job?

I remember the flat yellow and the flat red... mostly forgiven because of the Walnut dash (which I believe inspired Daven's Thundercat trackbike).

That pink Yamaha is great.

I always thought the Telefonica Suzukis looked gash, but I don't reckon race reps should count.

I was going to post the Telefonica Suzuki, but thought I'd done too many GSXR's.

The Honda CBR600RR Telefonica wasn't that bad, imho.

Yamaha hit it a bit more square on.

I reckon the Red Bull 996/998s look shit too, just doesn't suit the bike.

Never before have performance and colourscheme been so mismatched.

Looks like it should be towing a caravan with extended wing mirrors fitted.
