There seem to be many selfish arguments around now dressed up as being the greater good, however I am of the view that the current limbo needs to end. It may be that punters vote with their feet and put a lot of dives out of business or it may be the government makes more permanent restrictions on venues, or we might find that nothing changes and it's all ok.

I think we're at a point where there are no other options - the current 'lockdown' isn't a lockdown and is having no real effect in stopping transmission. So we either go full on lockdown a la last March or we just start to live with it and hope a variant that causes issues doesn't develop. Those that refuse to take the vaccine have made their choice.DefTrap wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 12:18 pm
Which inevitably means that infections and deaths will remain too high for a return to normality for some considerable time.
So whilst this might save some businesses, it still means that things like international travel will be fubared.
So, yes I do blame the government. We have speed limits which are enforced, we can't just make it up as we go along with impunity. Why is this different?

This discussion could go on until 2076 we will still be arguing all our different viewpoints.
No one size fits all here, make your own decisions based on what is best for you and yours, simple.
It's also only going to get worse as the overpopulated planet continues to grow and continues to move people even further into divided factions. I bet the governments are all sitting back laughing their arses off as the more division there is between us the easier we are to rule!

So up until now it was the governments fault right, is that what your saying?
But now they are advising us to do what want but be careful, it is now going to be our fault if infections rise?
You should be a tory mate, you'd make a good one.
Can i just throw this out to you, why has New Zealand had very very few infections?

Its the only way i know how to get my point across, get it all out at once.
I have discussions with my South Africa friend who has a similar personality and sometimes staff in pubs have come over to ask us to calm down as they don't want any trouble, but we we're really just having a conversation lol - his GF literally moves to a different table when me and him get into discussions about politics, he's a tory!

About a month after the 19th July is my bet, as they will use the freedom they are allowing us 'allowing us' to attend festivals etc and will then use that freedom to say it is our fault we are now having to lock back down.
It's standard policy for any political party, pass blame onto those who cannot fight back!
Are you actually saying that you and your friends cannot cope with responsibility and need to be permanently shepherded away from your own calamity? If they don't make knives illegal and you stab yourself in the face then who's fault is it?
So your example illustrating personal responsibility is an item that the govt have decided people clearly cannot cope with responsibility for?

Sorry Greenie - you;re not making any sense.
You're praising NZ for having few cases due to extremely draconion lockdowns and border controls but complaining that Boris has locked us down?
Lockdown and restrictions reduce cases, no lockdowns and the cases grow. Unfortunately we can't have it both ways so which way would you prefer?
