6mm steel plate tek screwed the Lazy Susan to the plate added a rope handle for ease of transport also handy to stand on and stop the plate spinning when putting the bike on the plate. Safe links

Just thinking about my old K75/100s - you needed a hefty shove and hold on the seat to get the front wheel off the ground

Might be something for OP to consider?

The xmax is quite well balanced front to rear on the centre stand although with a slight (perhaps 5kg or so) bias to the front wheel.

Yes the idea is to keep it as low as possible or you will struggle to get the bike up on the stand

It's not too hard to get the xmax up on a 1" thick plank so I could probably sandwich the lazy susan between 2 bits of chequer plate or similar to make it a bit more stable.

I've got one of them, it's useless unless the floor surface is utterly flat (think polished marble)

Man of your size could probably pick it up and turn it around no need for the turntable

Well I've made one. Lazy susan from simply bearings and some 5mm ply from a local skip (2 rectangles glued together to make 10mm), and 4 1/4" BSCy nuts & bolts. It works very well although getting the bike onto it requires a fair bit of effort - it may be worth running the back wheel onto a suitable plant to make life easier. Or maybe Mk II will have aplate made of 5mm alloy.

The strips of gaffer tape are to help locate the centre stand feet.

I think he means just the turney bit, so both front and rear wheels are off the ground.

Think of it as as like se-saw, with a fixed centre.
But instead of uppey downey, it's roundey roundey.





If you made the top a long 'T' shape: _____!____ then could you leave the bike on the sidestand?

If the strips of tape are to help locate the stand, they wouldn't be too helpful if facing down

Yes, the bearing faces down. I was going to add a plate but it seems quite stable as it is (300mm / 1ft diameter and flat) so won't bother.

The T shape would probably be an "advanced" design but actually I'm pretty happy with it as it is. Till I and the bike end up in an undignified heap.....

Oh, and when I say "locate" that's just visually although I was contemplating a length of 2x1 just in front of the centre point to act as a stop. But it doesn't seem to need it.

Would have worked well when you tried to ride away
