Today is the area of our family holidays, going past Nevers (MAgny Cours), Autun and Le Creusot, they're all pretty close to where we have our usual yearly trips. Most envious.

Fair to say that didnt work out as expected

Pogacar is outstanding ...... he doesnt appear to need a team to work for him as all the others are falling at the wayside as soon as he kicks

I know its the first day in the mountains but the time differences amongst the GC are in the minutes as opposed to the few random seconds already

Enjoyed(?) watching the stage yesterday, pretty brutal - missed out on last year completely for some reason. This is the first time I have seem Pogacar in action, my first impression is the same as the feeling I had about the big bad yank, something's not right here. A little background reading into the team he's riding for doesn't make me feel any more confident about him, only time will tell I guess.

I’m currently sitting at a cafe on the side of the route. Kind of amazed that there are so few people here!! I know it’s around four hours before they come through but when we tried to find somewhere on the mountain a few hours before the race a couple of years ago, it was packed. The roads close in 4 mins in Bourg St Maurice, so either the residents will rush out in time for the race or it’s gonna be well quiet!!

I started riding road bikes with a club before my teens and have always had an interest in Cycle racing (track, road and TT). The sort of performance differential displayed yesterday is not natural, those people he left for dead yesterday are all elite athletes! The duration of his high power output was definitely not right in my opinion.

I'm a smidge confused as I thought the yellow was the winner of the stage the day before, but it isn't, is it?

Polka dot = king of the mountain with points on each mountain stage

Green = overall points leader gained at sprints

Yellow= leader of the Tour overall

White = leading young rider in the tour



Today Pogacar used Ineos as a lead team as his own we’re not strong enough but his performance is astounding and left his rivals for dead yet again when he kicked

Just caught up on a 2 day stint of it.... Sure, he's astounding, but does that mean we need to go crazy thinking he's doing... Mmmm i'm not so sure. I like to keep an open mind on it until proven incorrect and like to think of them as just absolute beasts. He's also got slightly fortunate this year that all his main rivals have an XYZ as to why they're not there with him, there's a few factors for WvA, Roglic, Thomas, the only one who is flattering to disappoint slightly is Carapaz.

He's looking very impressive though for sure.

That said, what and effort from McNulty !!!! wow... he's shown flashes of brilliance this year for sure, but that was mighty impressive !

I'm guessing Po-face got a talking to by the team bosses after Saturday's display, he nearly managed to give the yellow away yesterday but couldn't help but take the bait from Ineos.
Rider of the day, probably sonny colbrelli - very good for a 'sprinter', reminded me of Sagan of the past.
