Re: Green Cards
The extra bit of paper you need from your insurance company to ride/drive abroad (basically the 'riding abroad' extension to your insurance)

Re: Green Cards
Yes - exactly. They used to be needed pre '73 (or a bit later, not sure), but since Brexit there's been questions over whether or not they would need to be re-introduced. I thought they had.weeksy wrote: ↑Fri Jul 02, 2021 10:04 amNever been aware of it.... ever... i assume this is only because we've left the EU ? i've never needed it before.Rockburner wrote: ↑Fri Jul 02, 2021 10:03 amThe extra bit of paper you need from your insurance company to ride/drive abroad (basically the 'riding abroad' extension to your insurance)
They're needed because within EU there's an agreement between countries that insurance from one country will be honoured if the incident happens in another country (eg paying for medical bills etc without taxes or some such), but outside of EU that agreement is no longer valid.

Re: Green Cards
I last needed one in the mid 1980s. You also needed a bail bond if you wanted to drive in Spain. They had a habit of being quite legally heavy for relatively trivial offences if you didn't have one IIRC.

Re: Green Cards
Well, post Jan1 this year, you needed one, but because of the fubar with NI, the powers that be in Brussels have decided now you don't, but it will take 20 days to ratify.
