No, that'd be silly.

We have sections for various prominent topics and potential discussions. That's not one.

Just dropped the car off for a service and valet, thankfully not at the dealers but a small independent who happens to have a valeting / detailing company next door.

Managed to grab a bacon bap on the walk home so all is well in the world.

The religious comments are the result of people asking questions - should he not answer?
I, along with my brothers and sister had a strict Ulster Baptist upbringing from birth, which basically meant church 3 times every Sunday, no TV or playing outside etc on the Lord's day, and a fair few other restrictions that my schoolmates never had- It meant that I got what I think is a fairly good view of that particular religion, and I decided I didn't believe any of it, it wasn't for me and as soon as I was able (which was when I was ~ 14YO ) I rebelled, and rejected it.
What my upbringing also did though was make me ask lots of questions and from that, I got an interest in learning a bit about other religions, which I continue to do- I haven't found any traditional" God" type religions that I believe yet, but there is good in most of them IMO, and generally speaking in the people that truly live their lives in accordance with them.

If I had to put my personal religious beliefs/outlook into a category then I'm definitely Humanist, as that's how I live my life, and I have to admit the whole question of religion and the many different interpretations of it, particularly the absolute faith that some obviously very intelligent and knowledgable people have in what to me are definitely fantasies fascinates me, but that doesn't mean that I am never interested in what those of other faiths have to say- interesting people are interesting whatever beliefs they may have.

All part of life's rich tapestry and all that I say :1

Sold my old soundbar and subwoofer on FB market place with only one scammer enquiry before genuine buyer.

"My dear Doctor, they're all true."

"Especially the lies."

I know. But if someone asks a question in a thread, should he say "just go to the religious section and I'll answer there"??

I'm not remotely religious in the traditional way. I grew up seeing people who said they were religious and watching them go to church on Sundays and high days, only to see and hear them then do things so unkind that it couldn't match with the religion they said they followed (I was brought up CofE but went to a Catholic prep school - my half Irish Dad wanted us to learn about other religions, he didn't know how awful and segregated the school was until I told him when I was well past school age)

I have little interest in it in general but try to be kind and to not do harm to people. That seems to be what all religions started out as? I have a friend who became a priest whilst we worked together. When I left I gave her a hug and she said some religious words out loud 'for' me as I hugged her - now that I found uncomfortable!!

But sometimes it's interesting to read what is said about different things, even if I don't follow it (bit like football in some ways!!)

No, because a post about baptismal pools would begin there ;)

The old place was a bit more rigorous about sky fairies. :hmmm:

So, he can't post about setting up the pool? As his job is being a Priest, if he posts on the "what have you done today" thread, it will likely have some reference to religion. You want to ban priests from posting about their day in the 'your day' thread??

Just had the call of dread from the garage:

Service circa £300 due to it being 36k major service on xdrive BMW - main dealer gave guesstimate of £500+ depending on what came up on inspection

Replacement adjustable headlight links (seized) £10 each x 4, fitting £30 - main dealer £15-20 each plus £100 fitting for all four

Front discs and pads - estimate BMW parts £500, Brembo £250, garage not doing as can’t get stock today, BMW fitting would be £200+ - courier will drop off Brembo kit tomorrow, I’ll fit on Friday / Saturday / Sunday as garage is stacked out and it isn’t a difficult job with all the correct tools.

Two rear tyres at 2mm, one front at 2.3mm - kwikfit sorting on Saturday for £110 per wheel for Goodyear Excellence fitted at home, goodnesss knows what the dealer would charge!

Given my permanent status of WFH, I suspect a minor service in 2 years time and hand it back 6 months after that, so not bad for 4 years motoring

I'm also ordained clergy, but a humanist/realist *sect*, so none of the superstitious nonsense etc. Friend found out I could perform marriages & asked if I would do his if he got married again. I told him I would never inflict that kind of misery on anyone, but if he had another heart attack & popped his clogs I'd be more than happy to bury him. The look on the face of the third party to this conversation was one of abject horror :)

Sorry, did some people mistake my post above for a debate on what I should do? I thought it was clear, his posts are fine, simple as that.
We won't be sectioning him or them off.

End of that discussion.

I'll admit to being confused, so it wasn't clear to me. You stated that religious posts are both ok, & not ok. So which is it? Just asking for clarification, not a debate.

Lol really. I stated they're perfectly fine and won't be being moved into a section of their own.

Right, gotcha :) It was the "That's not one" part that confuzzled me, thought you were saying it's not a subject for "potential discussion"

Re: What have you done today thread?

I went swimming again today. Missed yesterday with appointments and a knee physio that made me feel that swimming probably wasn't a good idea straight after!!

So, today I went in to make up for missing a day! Borrowed a resistance thingy so be able to do a certain exercise to help a particular area that hurts when I do exercises for it out of the pool. In the pool, even with resistance, the muscles don't hurt - but damn they ache now!!

Anyway - I'd done 10 lengths of various types of swimming each of the three days I'd been before

Today , 14 :bblonde: :bblonde: -
11.5 lengths of breaststroke
2 lengths of back stroke
0.5 lengths of crawl!! Really can't get the breathing right, but at least my arm seems to be ok for it

In between each length I stop and do various exercises for knees or shoulder so don't get a lot of rest - not that rest was good today, damn it was cold!!

So, now my shoulder and arm aches, my legs ache and my back aches!! But, it was really good for me!! LOL

Then I went to shoulder physio and had a really good chat about the TdF (he road cycles and I think used to race - that annoying kind of person that lives in resort but will cycle down the mountain to meet friends to do a big cycle up and down and different mountain, then cycle back to resort  ). We had a really interesting chat about it :D

He also knows the lifeguard at the pool and told me to talk to that guy to get some help with my swimming. I'm not really a swimmer, don't really like it. But it will be really good for my shoulder and knees, and in general, so I should learn to swim properly so that as I get fitter/stronger, I can swim more without messing up!! LOL

Tomorrow I have a medical apt in Annecy, then back to the valley for a french lesson then home in time to use the pool - hopefully. It's open earlier from Saturday so more chance that I can get to the pool even when I have to go do stuff!! :D :D

Back from LAX, took an hour to get there & 3 hours to get back.
Found someones discarded crack outside Terminal 1. Pointed it out to a rozzer, 4 more showed up & after some discussion they decided to just throw it in a trashcan instead of dealing with the paperwork.
He asked "What were you doing over here?"
(It's a patch of dirt right outside the Terminal 1 parking structure, everyone uses the area for their dogs to take care of business...)
I point at the dog & say "He was peeing right there" as I point at the wet spot next to the cops left foot.
Cop: What makes you think it's drugs?"
Me: I had a colorful past before I became the upstanding pillar of the community you see before you. That ain't grandma's cookies
Two of the other cops caught the humor & burst out laughing.

Already accomplished my first nap of the day before 9.15am :banana-dance:

Now I have to go fix the a/c on the Honda Shitbox.
