#4 Bury Bandits. Dayglo pink AR50 with black polka dots... We got 2nd place at one race. That was after we had 6 crashes & two of us were carted off track in an ambulance on consecutive laps... We were also involved in two of the bar brawls, one in Derbyshire & the other at Skeggie.

Sort of, I went to school with the younger brother of Craig Logan who was the bass player for (and then left) Bros, saw him around school fairly often as he was in the same year as my girlfriend at the time.

I have no idea if anyone from my school ever became remotely well known, etc..
I’ll admit to having met Cilla Black, Les Dennis & Lionel Blair, ohhhhh I feel so old now

Re: Who did you know before they were famous?
Liam Howlett, back when he lived a couple of doors away from my mate.
Keith Flint (RIP) but thats a family connection.
And Leroy Thornhill installed the electric boiler at my mums house, as he was an apprentice at my mates company.
Used to see the three of them dancing togethet at a club we used to frequent. We only went there as it did late night drinks when the pubs closed at 11pm. They were entertaining to watch, even better now knowing that in a few years they would be famous.

My science teachers became briefly famous, got caught out making a porno in the gym and made the front page of the Sun. I went to a classy school.
Re: Who did you know before they were famous?
I think I mentioned previously that I knew this fella called George.
He was a good friend* of a mate and was always around the place.
I didn’t take to him much , but as he was a friend of Burt** I tolerated him. Even to the point of stepping in to help him out one night outside some club in Brum.
He was always telling us that he was going to start a Band…been talking to Malcomn McC…..was rehearsing with Bow Wow Wow….. was going on Stage with them at the Palais….
To me it was a fantasy world he lived in, and would never make much of himself.
Boy, how right I was.
*yeah that
** made up name as it was in George’s Biography and ended up in Court.

If he didn't make it, why did he have a biography?Nobby wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 4:40 pm I think I mentioned previously that I knew this fella called George.

I knew Scott Dixon, the 6 time Indy Car world champ when he was a kid. I used to work with his dad, Ron in Auckland NZ - He was just making the change from karts to Formula Ford.

Re: Who did you know before they were famous?
I see we have some "infamous* people..
I knew one like that. Bloke named Kevin. He was a barman at the Canterbury Arms in Brixton. He could be a bit of a handful when he had a few drinks in him.
Cops showed up at the pub one day & arrested him. He'd got shitfaced drunk the night before & raped/murdered some 80+ yo woman. This would have been around 1980.

Re: Who did you know before they were famous?
I have a really tenuous link. My father in law was a draughtsman many years ago and his boss used to talk about his niece who was getting started in acting and was going to be really big one day, the bosses surname was Bonham-Carter.
