Porthgwarra. Yes, I know. Its new name is Porthnarra... I'm going there again today (on the bike!) to look for the culprit, as I didn't stop at the time. I'm a bit puzzled, tbh, as the damage is high up compared with the usual sticky-out stone.Cousin Jack wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 9:39 am Wherabouts?
Devon and Cornwall* lanes are full of sticky-out stones.
* other counties with narrow lanes are available.

Well, if you will drive a camper in deepest darkest West Penwith .......................
..........you are braver than me! Some of those roads are narrow.
Hope the damage is not too expensive.

If it’s any help, the wicked step mother was driving their brand new camper van and whilst trying to negotiate the narrow entrance to their Cornish holiday home, the iron gate hinge on the granite fence post acted as a can opener down the side of the less than 100 mile old van. My Dad was less than impressed
Not even sure zip ties and Gaffa tape will sort your scratch out though.

The development I live in has a VERY tight entrance. Visitors to the holiday lets have been known to damage their cars. Really good luck with getting a camper with a Luton body in or out.MingtheMerciless wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 9:49 am If it’s any help, the wicked step mother was driving their brand new camper van and whilst trying to negotiate the narrow entrance to their Cornish holiday home, the iron gate hinge on the granite fence post acted as a can opener down the side of the less than 100 mile old van. How welcoming.
Apart from bloody mindedness, is there a reason for it?

I'll put some pictures of the repair on here when it's done, if anyone is interested (even if they're not). Been to see "my mate" - he reckons his biggest problem will be finding that corner trim strip, so that's my current mission. Maybe it was built for cars when cars were car sized instead of truck sized.Yambo wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 10:33 amCousin Jack wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 10:24 am

I've seen 'ratrun' roads installed with bollards tight to the width of a normal car, you have to be careful to creep through unscathed. It's probably to stop the fecking big lorries going down there as it saves a good 15 minutes, and the numerous sleeping policemen obviously wasn't working ...Yambo wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 10:33 amCousin Jack wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 10:24 am

Finding out that you cannot buy “strike anywhere” matches any more- even Swan Vestas are now safety matches. It is insignificant as I don’t need or even want some, but if I did decide to make a bolt banger, or casually light a match with my thumbnail , it has been decreed that I can’t…

Last time I steeled myself and went to that there London, I noticed a few of the roads had serious width restriction put in. It was a struggle to get the car through without kerbing the wheels. I did wonder at the time about ambulances and fire engines.DefTrap wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 2:00 pm
