Soakaway type drain by garage. Problems.

It maybe it connects to drain pipe and goes to a properly made large, buried gravel soakaway but your house doesn't look very old to me so I think it's unlikely? Sometimes builders used to chuck all the old half bricks and roof tiles into a big hole and cover with shingle to make a soakaway and save on a skip at the same time.

It may, but there's really no way to tell as no visible signs of anything to tell us.

Same on ours and neighbors garage. No visible entry, drain, cover. Drain pipe just sits flush, no hole.

Ahhh, a slot drain. PITA. This is a side section of one of those types. You need a blad thing in there to clean it, but they normally run into a catch pot thing?

I've cleaned the slots with screwdriver and jet wash. But obviously I can't get 'in' there to do more or see where if anywhere it goes

lift that section.... Hmmmm that's a bloody chunk of concrete lol. i'm not actually sure how we'd begin to go about that.

It's deffo the lowest point as you can see from the middle that both pieces are angled in slightly.

It took me a minute to realise that you've popped a couple of the bricks out, but it still looks like the drain block that the pipe runs into has dropped a bit.
I'd be a little bit worried that because the water hasn't been going to the right place, it's been draining down and washed the soil out from underneath leaving a cavity.

I'd be inclined to get someone in to look into lifting the drain blocks, clean them out and reset them.

I didn't buy a house because the house extension had an extreme case of this problem and the foundations needed underpinning because they had been washed away.
