The silver tanked one looks like a really fat bloke has sat on it
Nice styling jobs though IMO, although that engine is such a big lump whatever you do they always look heavy.

I like them all, in different ways... I'd say the blue faired one though is by a smidgen, my favourite of them.

I can't get past the ugliness of the Royal Enfield engine - it looks like something from the 1960s.

I think that that was the whole point of the exercise.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 9:00 am I can't get past the ugliness of the Royal Enfield engine - it looks like something from the 1960s.
Blundering about trying not to make too much of a hash of things.

That's the sales point for me, as it was with my Thruxton. Love the look of old air/oil cooled engines. Engines with plumbing just looks like plant to me.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 9:00 am I can't get past the ugliness of the Royal Enfield engine - it looks like something from the 1960s.

It is, but being someone who started riding motorcycles in the early 80s, the last thing I wanted was a 1960s bike and I still feel the same.Lutin wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 9:05 amI think that that was the whole point of the exercise.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 9:00 am I can't get past the ugliness of the Royal Enfield engine - it looks like something from the 1960s.

Re: BUILD. TRAIN. RACE.: THREE KILLER ROYAL ENFIELD RACE BIKES
Not just one thing, but I'm very clear about what I like and dislike, and not very open to changing my opinions, I'd like all of those bikes if they had a TZ750 or GPZ1100 engine in them, I really hate the 1960s look of that engine, but I also see why other people like it.weeksy wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 9:34 amLOL you only want 1 thing... you're VERY specific.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 9:33 amIt is, but being someone who started riding motorcycles in the early 80s, the last thing I wanted was a 1960s bike and I still feel the same.

Deffo an age thing 'cause I think 80s/early 90's bike look shit I just associate them with lardy old buses covered in furry fasteners!
The youngest 60's bike is still nearly 20 years older than I am, so I love 'em.

Re: BUILD. TRAIN. RACE.: THREE KILLER ROYAL ENFIELD RACE BIKES
I can totally see that, I know the only reason I like bikes from 1980 - 2000 is because it's the period when motorcycling was one of the most important things in my life, it certainly was more important than my job at that time, I think the only thing more important to me during that time was my sex life.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 11:32 am Deffo an age thing 'cause I think 80s/early 90's bike look shit I just associate them with lardy old buses covered in furry fasteners!

Re: BUILD. TRAIN. RACE.: THREE KILLER ROYAL ENFIELD RACE BIKES
due to not being into bikes until 2001 i don't have any nostalgia at all, but i just like them because they look cool. The shape of the engine works for me, irrespective of whether it's old, new or old/new.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 11:29 amNot just one thing, but I'm very clear about what I like and dislike, and not very open to changing my opinions, I'd like all of those bikes if they had a TZ750 or GPZ1100 engine in them, I really hate the 1960s look of that engine, but I also see why other people like it.weeksy wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 9:34 amLOL you only want 1 thing... you're VERY specific.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 9:33 am

Re: BUILD. TRAIN. RACE.: THREE KILLER ROYAL ENFIELD RACE BIKES
Probably the best way to be, I've fully embraced that I've turned into an old codger twatting about with old bikes, the very person I used to take the piss out of.

It's the best of them, but imagine how much nicer it would be with a 750cc two stroke engine.
