Not sure why, but this one really is a yes for me... simple, basic, efficient. I approve.

Not sure about the exhaust routing (and welding) for that front pot.
I like it, but there are dozens of these Viagra cafe racer conversions, I was impressed by the first one I saw, but now they all look the same.

It's probably to make it the same length as the other header? Seemingly only had access to straight pipes though.

Yep, there are loads of these.
I don't like the ones where the bike comes out too tall (as this one is).
It needs to be more like this (fuck know why they don't turn the lights on to get pics ffs)
or this
The red one has about a mile gap between the motor and tank, what's that all about?

I must like the taller ones, as I don't like the ones DefTrap has posted, though the red one does look like a tidied up XSR700

That silver one would be ace if it had the seat off one of the other two.

The XV has a great motor, mind, apart from the stoopid starter clutch problem.

Not sure about the dented, scraped and rusting tank.

Re: SALVAGE STAR: A YAMAHA VIRAGO 750 REBORN AS A CAFE RACER
First thing I notice is the dissimilar front and rear wheels. Should have used a front that matches the LC stylee rear. Is that a huge spine frame I see ? That would explain the excessive gap between motor and tank, but not the ridiculously high seat. And that exhaust welding is proper gash. OK, it's miles better than I could do, but for something like that if you can't get the bends done you need much smaller sections and better quality TIG welding. And what I presume is the oil tank is about the same quality as a 3rd year metalwork student would knock up. But it's matt black and low down so no-one will notice.

I think that's exactly what he's going for with it. Which is why i like itPotter wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 2:24 am I don't understand it at all, it looks shit and knocked up by someone on a very limited budget and using whatever was available from the breakers down the road even if it didn't fit and made it look shit.
Back in the day I saw loads of bikes like this knocked up by skint blokes who needed them to get to work and couldn't afford anything else.
If that's the look he's going for then he's nailed it.

There's a decent amount of work in putting a traditional subframe on that weird pressed steel spine frame, plus there's loads of work removing all the stock gubbins and mess of airbox, let alone creating exhausts etc. Its actually quite a hard base as a start point because, other than the motor, the stock bike is a fecking ugly cruiser which gets worse the more tinwear you take off.
So I wouldn't say it was either cheap or easy but,for me, the design is flawed ...
