Arse, what’s peoples favourite repair kit?

I've got that one aswel. ☝ I first heard about it from our @Trinity765 . I watched the tube vids and all looked doable and simple enough.

As for my personal experience of it... it comes in a old school pencil case size bag, with a nice working zip. Plastic with some nice colourful touches. Should be waterproof and fit's snug under the tracer seat, or would equally be suited to a tail bag or such like.

Recommended.

Can’t remember if they’re marketed as a temporary solution but they’re definitely not as permanent as a plug put in from the inside of the tyre. Having said that, I did have 5 plugs in an Avon Storm on my TDM850 ten years ago, still got nearly 15k miles out of the tyre.

Only changed the tyre when it needed a sixth plug.

S’true, I do.

TBF, it was commuting mileage from Chatham to London. The only corners were in the Blackwall Tunnel. Tyre was properly goosed by then, should have been changed 5,000 miles/3 punctures earlier.

I have this one under the seat of the Multi ....its a foldable glued strip type plug

Used it a few weeks ago when i picked up this lovely addition that was all the way in to the head and had to be unscrewed out as it wouldnt pull out



Its holding pressure fine but will get a professional one done when i find a local place that will do it as i have tried 3 and all said no to bike tyres

There's a FortNine video on puncture repairs... worth watching.

I've had good success with sticky string. Very easy to work into the puncture and seals well. After a vulcanised repair on a newly new tyre, I got a second flat just a couple of weeks later (ruddy builders up the road!) so used sticky string as I needed the bike - I finally ditched the tyre with maybe 1k left in it.

I think there's a reason the sticky string type is popular. It's easy and is ready immediately w/o taking the tyre off, 99% of the time it'll get you home and there's a higher than average chance it'll outlast the tyre without any further intervention.
The only time I ever asked 'a pro' to do it (wheel and tyre off job with a 'proper' plug) the time and expense to get it fixed really wasn't worth it. Plus I had to listen to some grease monkey give me a load of bollocks about how much better it was ...

I use the proper patches that you get in garages, well these were the ones we used when I was a tyre fitter many years ago.

Relatively cheap and if doing yourself makes perfect sense, they’re a permanent repair and good for tyres rated to 150mph so in theory they’ll do any tyre so long as you don’t go daft, I kept it to 149 and never took the bike back on track until I had another rear to throw on.
