I like that, it's even got a number plate hanger!

Conversion to hydraulic clutch seems a bit overkill, just to give the bars a more symmetrical look.

I like it too

I find myself strangely drawn to this style of bike, although I have no interest in off road riding. Looks like it would be good fun around the local B roads. I'd be thinking about road tyres rather than knobblies, which leads us in a different direction...

That actually looks finished, production-ready and real world usable. Plus I like the tank paintwork. I'd change the tyres for road use but not much else.

If they put a decent seat on it and hadn't made it look like someone has stolen the last 6" of the back end then it would be bang on.
I'd probably have put a proper front mudguard on as well.

One of the most inappropriately named bikes ever. I had a Dominator for a couple of years - it was a Californian import as it happens, and put 50-odd k miles on it... really liked it, though the seat was a misnomer. I had the misfortune to ride a 'Vigor' once. It could barely pull the skin off a rice pudding.

The Dominator was good, 44bhp I think, the Vigor struggles to make 30.

There was also a very nice XR650L sold in the US with the Dominator engine.

If you could get one cheap you could throw a load of tuning bits into it and get a nice 50bhp bike

I believe the Mash classic 650 uses a Chinese made Dominator engine

I raced/tuned a bike with the Honda RFVC engine, although the 500 not the 650.

The hemi head requires a two part cam follower, that wears a lot. The cam runs in a plain bearing, that wears a lot if there any slight impediment to oil flow.

Joy Engineering will knock you up an HRC RS600 replica cam... the RS600 was HRC's attempt at an oval racer to beat the HD XR750.

Wiseco sell an XR500 piston that fits the 500 version of the RFVC motor (XBR500).

Some people have got them near 60bhp. iirc my mates 2000 XR600 made about 36bhp on the dyno.

Side on, it looks more like a classic Triumph than Triumph's offerings!

A tad under 40 hp and £4800 plus charges. I rather like it.

As well as the Six Hundred and the X-Ride, there's also a rather weird flat tracker.

Mid 30s sounds about right for an XR, my one felt about the same power (and weight) as the DRZ400S I replaced it with, DRZ handled a lot better by the way - but it should as it was a 15 year newer design.
