Had to look that up. Google says its a spit cake.

The only one that makes me want to spit (I’m far too polite to actually spit) is the savoury one - it has olives in it

Kürtos Cannelle (my go to) is a pastry/dough that is wrapped around a conical form and baked. Whilst still warm it’s rolled in cinnamon sugar. Better than a croissant for dunking in coffee

The savoury has chopped up olives in it so not possible to pick them off/out

Skylarks singing on the Downs.

(It's actually a territorial "bugger off" it's my bit of the Downs)
"Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?"
"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."

They say that no good deed goes unrewarded, and this made me think the world ain't such a bad place....

A couple of months ago Mrs. G and the Gremlinette were out and about and came across a lady doing deliveries in her car crying. Mrs. G asked if she was ok, transpired that she's parked where she shouldn't and got a ticket. She explained that she was doing the delivery work as she'd been unable to work due to Covid, husband had been furloughed, not much money coming in and a forty quid fine was the final straw. Mrs. G. took £40 out of her purse and gave it to the woman because, in her words, 'It's been a shit year for loads of people'. The woman wouldn't take it, apologised and went to drive off, but they insisted she take the money. Gremlinette ended up chucking the money through the open window and running off.

Fast forward to Sunday lunchtime, and the Gremlinette is working in the restaurant when the woman comes in with her husband, recognised her, explained that this was one of the people who gave her the money for the parking ticket, etc. and proceeded to have a good chat. She's now back working as is husband. They left a tenner tip for her, then came back with £40 of T K Maxx vouchers for the Gremlinette and bottle of prosecco to give to Mrs. Gremlin.

How awesome. Of Mrs G and the Gremlinette. But also for the lady to see Gremlinette now things are better and she is ok.

Man that must have made such a difference to her on the day and I bet she was really chuffed to see G'ette and get to talk to her again.

Blooming awesome

lol, i see now yes.

They are great times, they really are.. Spending countless hours with my lad and his mates jumping is absolutely epic. Most of the time they're there for 3-4 hours, i'll bugger off for half of the time and give them lads time without me there, but they don't seem to mind me there as i try and jump too, so i think they mostly just see me as one of the lads, admittedly i'm the shit one... but hey, i'm having a go.

Just 'tracked' my Irish passport application - online it says it should be with me by end of July. So, even if I allow a couple more months for the universe to stick it's finger up at me, I should have it for the winter - which means I can actually work!!

Been panicking because there is no sign of my right of residence card for France, even though it will probably arrive before the end of October, if it doesn't, I 100% need the passport to be able to do my job!!!

Still crossing fingers, but feeling a smidge less stressed!!

In the past when I toured Spain it was always camping or in the motorhome.
I'm now seeing a different side staying in nice hotels.

Most bars bring a little tapa with most drinks.

Often bringing a platter to share.

It's a thing in a lot of European countries. In Italy it's considered a little vulgar to just drink, so if you order a beer, invariably a plate of small nibbles will follow.

Thus, with a quartered sandwich, one goes from Philistine to gentleman of culture.

They do that when they bring bread to the meal.
If they do, no tip :)

Life! Well, life in the summer. I'm in my happy place. Buzzing around, enjoying the weather and getting lots of washing done :banana-dance:

I made some Elderflower cordial at the weekend :D I'm having my second jab this afternoon and I'm out for a ride tonight. Every weekend from now until the end of July is booked up with biking trips and parties.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I love being back in the office and it's definitely improved my mood. It's great to see people, catch up with people and overhear their happy banter and best of all, I get to go home at the end of a hard days work.

Going home. Just spent 9 days riding round Spain and can't wait to get home.
It was ok with decent roads but dull scenery. Not once did I stop to take a photo.
Even on south coast with my pals, it was just meh. They love it, but just a bit dull to me.

Everytime I get off the plane or ferry , I'm glad to be home.

Sometimes holidays are a treat, but the treat for me is getting home. I'm in the best place in the world and so happy.
