I'm not going to worry about brakes. I think the only stuff I'm going to do short term is a decent shock and fork internals.

It's such a clean bike it would be a shame to fuck about with it too much... but then loud pipes save lives, it would have to be something suitably period looking. Cobra still make pipes for them, but they're REALLY spendy.

Got to love Whit's track feedback... he wants to say the 1100 is a fat ill handling porker, but he's wearing his Suzuki leathers

From memory the shock and forks are pretty good on the 1100M/N, unless they're shagged you'll be wasting money, it's never going to handle like a modern bike, it's the last of the dinosaurs.

I gave it a good bounce and it felt a bit soft... but watching that video review, they say the softness is a good thing on the road. I'm not going to spunk anymore cash until I've done a few miles.

I saw him race them back in the day. Did pretty well.

I don't remember the one I rode having soft suspension, but I weighed 10 stone back then.

The forks on those were the first that the adjustment actually worked on, you do have to set them up properly. Lots of people po it rear shocks in from newer bikes, but they don't work because the old stuff is so lardy.

The Busa shock seems to be a popular mod, but you have to cut the battery box so the piggyback res fits.

Bugger doing that on a bike so mint though. Unless you get a 2nd hand battery box.

Oh yeah, nothing is getting cut. If it does need a shock, it'll either be the stock one rebuilt, or something like a Nitron with a remote res (like the original shock).

Still no GSXR.

Apparently the reason it's so minty and low miles is because it's not been used.

It means lots of rubber parts need replacing and they're all coming from Suzuki and taking a while.

I'm getting some reasonable comms from Ritebike, so quite happy with the service. The bloke I spoke to on Friday was gutted as he wanted to buy it with his staff discount.

I should get an update on Monday when the workshop opens again.

I can't pick it up before the weekend anyway.

If it's not ready at the weekend I might start to worry... and ask about under what circumstances I can get my deposit back and buy a Firestorm and a nicer seat for the Bullet instead.

With their reputation I’d be buying a firestorm now, but hope it does work out

I've been researching the rep, there's a lot of stuff in various Friendface groups, they actually get quite a lot of good feedback. TBF they seem to be trying their hardest to sort this GSXR out, they could have just dumped it on me and told me thats how it's supposed to be.

MCT did the suspension on my Firestorm, new springs, revalved, WP rear shock. I think it was £600 back in 2004. It was much better but I still didn't really get on with it and sold it after 18 months. I don't like thinking about how much money I lost on it
