Also how easy is it to register in the UK?
Not sure how it a works nowadays, my KX was already registered when I bought it. Then I changed its resistration via the DVLA (after getting an age of manufacture letter from Kawasaki) to get rid of its Q plate.
Wouldn't have bothered but I couldn't get theft insurance on a Q plate bike and also they are a bit of a police magnet.
All things considered I figured a 500 motocrosser on the road didn't need to be even more of a magnet than it was already.
After I did all that^ they brought in some rather more draconian rules about registering bikes and I just can't remember them. Might be worth checking.

A DR350 would seriously kick it's arse and be a lot more reliable.

It's a shame all those old XT250's have started to appreciate, a couple of years back you'd have got one for that money. They're a lot more now.

I'm idling casting about for another bike to use when spawn junior comes up and uses the XR.
Enduro styled for the size and a 2T for the smell. Not too highly tuned nor powerful. Price? Don't know, but not HOW MUCH? And I don't know how much how much is. I'd like to shift the R1z on at the same time.
I could get my finger out with the TDR I suppose.

I've had a CRM250, it was aces. AR model so all the sensors you could want, proper Honda overcomplicating.
A KDX could be interesting, as could a KMX200 or similar.
Failing that high mileage Pan Europeans are cheap.

I had a pukka UK KDX220R, 2001 ish, loved it, was overkill for the trails I did.
The JDM KDX200SR's were road based rather than full on Enduro spec like the 220R, probably a bit more sensible with steel tanks and autolube pumps.

That's useful to know, premix is right out. There's an MTX200 down in Minehead, c£2K and needs works, and an ignition box.

I'm now sanitised and teaed up.
I swapped the R1z for an unregistered DT200R. It's on the NOVA* system and was supplied with the dated certificate, photographs, the DVLA form and instruction on how to fill in the form. Everything I need but the cash and the MOT test certificate. The latter I'll get ASAP. The seller also included a workshop manual, in French.
It's a French import and is in OK condition considering it's age and the type of bike. I post a photo when I've downloaded/uploaded/linked one.
Finance: R1z's seem to cost about £3K in reasonable nick from a dealer so I'd guess at £2.5K on a private sale. The DT was up for £2.2K. We settled for a straight swap. As ever I've probably not got the best monetary bargain but it was very convenient and the DT is much more sellable locally than the R1z.
It started OK, sounds crisp, and the gears and brakes work.
