DAB radio??

Post by ace llani »

Living in Mid Wales meants the only radio stations I can recieve on notmal radio are Radio 1 and 2, or Heart, and that's pretty pants.

I'm listening to Planet Rock, through my phone onto a bluetooth radio, but it's a bit of a pain.
(Although I'm listening to Alice Cooper's show, which is worth the aggro :banana-wrench: :banana-wrench: :banana-wrench:

Could I get more stations with a DAB possibly?

I know nowt about them.

I bought Mrs.Skub a DAB recently and there appears to be any god's amount of radio stations, same with the radio in our car.

Mind you from what I hear incidentally, quantity doesn't mean quality.

Unfortunately she listens a lot to that unmitigated pile of wank that is radio 2,christ I don't think I'll ever be old enough for that rubbish.

Dunno about where you live but theres a lot more stations on the DAB+ setting of my site radio than on the FM setting.
I never use the FM setting nowadays and thats even in my van and driving through the lake district where I thought it would be patchy coverage. Yeah its patchy coverage but the FM is far more patchy so the DAB still wins out.

Loads of stations on DAB, even more on the internets.

Get a radio that does both.

You already are :)

Zoe Ball never. fucking. shuts. up. No wonder Norm kicked her into touch, he probably wanted some peace and quiet. Ken Bruce is no Wogan, but he's still a leg-end. I'd like to give Jezza Vine a good slapping though, and if someone could shoot Wrighty I'd be grateful.

DAB sucks balls.
I'm mostly in a rural location and the reception is pretty non existent, so although the unit I've got does do DAB it's used for internet radio

Pretty much my thoughts on Radio 2.

I tend to go between R4, World Service, R6 music R2 and whatever music/stories is on my phone via Bluetooth to my site radio through the day.
Cant stand Zoe Ball, nor Jeremy Vine and the great British public, The Archers need gassed and sometimes R6 music is a bit niche market.
So I flit about.
Absolute 80s was ok for about a day but theres only so many times I can listen to Don't Get Me Wrong by The Pretenders and the adverts get on my tits.

I recently bunged all my music onto a USB stick and use that in the van now. Radio irritates me too much. I had high for R6 but what happens every time I tune in is that the current track is good, then they notice I've tuned in and play nothing but stuff I don't like.

You might get more with DAB but I wouldn't bet on it, loads of stations are on a poor quality standard so if you get anything it's likely to be the same you get now.

Thanks for the heads up y'all.

I'll give the DAB a swerve and carry on with the Planet Rock app.

Crap FM radio signal generally means crap DAB station quality as its the same method of transmition its only digital when decoded. they (radio stations) seem to think fewer than 8 bits is acceptable. Its really crap often. Not always

I use the radioplayer app while working (loads of athletes are available) and prefer to stream than use the dab radio by the side of desk
