The benefits of getting older
The benefits of getting older
Here is my list of the benefits of getting older:
1. Cheaper vehicle insurance
2.
I re-insured my Super Duke this weekend. £94! Plus £25 cashback through Quidco, so £69 in real terms. For a 170bhp bike. Fantastic.
Sadly I didn't have any tax, and couldn't buy any tax cos I didn't have any MOT, so didn't get to ride it in the end. So it was a bit of a fail after all, but still.. look at my cheap insurance etc.

Re: The benefits of getting older
The only real benefit for me so far was being old enough to get an earlier vaccine than most of my friends
Far more disadvantages so far. Maybe I’ll call the insurance company to get a quote to see if that cheers me up!!!

Not having to work,so I can ride when the roads are virtually empty.

TBH, if the tax had run over I wouldn't be concerned. Likewise the MOT. But as it had neither and therefore invalidated the insurance, I figured missing all 3 was too much to riskAsian Boss wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 11:47 am Don't you worry about all that tax and mot bollocks. What you want is a Q-plate, daytime only MoT and TPO insurance; that's the hard man's trinity.Slenver wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 12:12 pmTBH, if the tax had run over I wouldn't be concerned. Enjoy that benefit, it won't last! When you start getting really old insurance starts going up again. And you dare not ride/drive abroad, because travel insurance is unaffordable or just plain unavailable.

1. I thought insurances went up once you passed a certain age
2. You have enough money to pay someone else to get their hands dirty
3. The older you get the faster you used to be

Number 3 sounds about right...... Although there are times I must forget how old I am, another sign of older age maybe?Trinity765 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 5:29 am 1. I thought insurances went up once you passed a certain age

You ae not yet old. When you get properly old you tell everyone how old you are, repeatedly and in every conversation.Scuffmark wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 9:35 amNumber 3 sounds about right...... Old enough to be retired with all the time to do all the things I want.
Young enough to be able to do the things I want.
Often those 2 things don't align.

Mine's going up again. For bike and camper.
