Ceramic Coatings ?

Anyone have a opinion on this Ceramic paintwork / engine treatments ? The ones that last for years, never have to clean the bike / throw a bucket of water on it and it's mint.

Or is the old Autoglym / Bees wax / elbow grease method better ?

ACF-50 is the equivalent of that, it puts on a coating that can be washed off later and leaves pretty much pristine.

Or you can pay me £100 a time and i'll come clean it properly

Considering how grey and cloudy it is here, that's not sounding like a terrible idea.

Somehow I just knew this was going to be a thought provoking and constructive conversation...ACF 50 is so old school ( like Slick 50 ) and so so messy. What I was on about are these companies offering years of trouble free cleaning if we apply a ceramic / liquid polymer is applied to the paintwork and they say engine and exhaust...

Just wondered if anyone had used it already and what they thought of the finish. I'ts supposed to be mega shinny / scratch resistant and the rain just falls off.

Just to make it harder I'm sure I have recently seen the quote "ceramic is yesterday, now there is ???? ". But I can't remember what the new kid on the block is.

I had a ceramic coating on my previous bike. While it wasn't a life-changing innovation, it did what it said on the tin (a quick hosepipe cleaned the bike, the paint stayed a bit shinier, etc.)

Ceramic coating wasn't cheap but - probably - you get back some of the investment by having a newer-looking machine when selling the bike on. I've only subjective evidence that it reduced stone chips; my new (non-ceramic) bike's paint seems more scratch-prone.
